When did you/ will you have a sweep?

I am 40 weeks on Sunday and have been offered a sweep for next week. I am unsure whether to have it or not or to give it another week- my understanding is that it will only work if your body is nearly ready. I am planning a home birth so really don't want to be induced so wondering if it is maybe better to have a sweep sooner rather than later?

I'm having a sweep next week at 37+1 as my Induction is booked for 38+1 and they are keen for me to go naturally before that

I had a sweep at 40+10 and i so nearly didn't - but just as well i did as when she did the internal exam did midwife pick up that DS was breech and I was immediately booked for a CS!

I had one at 40+5 and it didn't work, well cervix was 1cm dilated but still 2cm length and posterior so a sweep couldn't be done. Unless you've got an induction looming (next week they want to induce by Wed so will have a 2nd sweep Mon) like mumymneedinganswers said then worth waiting a bit longer if you can for baby to come when they are ready.

I had two sweeps last time and ended up being induced. This time I won't be having a sweep.
Found it really painful and it did nothing. Whereas induction, painful but with decent drugs and did exactly what it was meant to!!
