Oh feel for you..I can perhaps guess..are they vulva ones?? I had them with all three pregnacies and they ache and ache........ Perfectly normal and went away almost immediately after birth. Not a lot you can do apart from big support pants..the tighter the better and even support tights to help that aching 'dropping out' feeling..

I had these when pregnant with dd2
Really quite painful and very uncomfortable, something to do with the pressure.I was just advised to wear massive mattress type sanitary towels for padding .I was terrified that they would still be there afterwards but luckily they vanished .

Shall i punch him for you?

I'm glad you started that thread!
I want to know what they look like exactly and where they are situated!
I started a thread yesterday on them but no replies at all!!
Do you have like a "Pinching" or "dragging" feeling?
Do they look blue or just a normal colour swelling?
Where are they exactly?
(I want to know if it's what I've got)

lulumama · 06/12/2006 21:11

few threads on this lately.withjj some useful links...do a search of the aarchives and htey will come up!

andreax · 06/12/2006 21:14

on bits that should be soft and squidgy but aren't. Havn't got a clue as to the colour as cant see my toes never mind anything else.
Sort of feelslike a heavy dragging sensation and the later in the day the worse it gets. By teatime have to sit down in a gentle 'ladylike'manner as hurts like hell other wise.

Thank you I've done that but in the past threads they weren't described exactly, ie the exact place and the exact colour (for example do they always have to look blue or can they just be a swelling?)...etc...

tidyjane · 06/12/2006 21:17

What do you mean underneath on the "lips" area? (sorry about the detailing) or on the top (that fatty pad covered by hairs)?

andreax · 06/12/2006 21:21

the fatty part!My front half isnormal and then the further back themore swollen and tender. After working allday the backpart is swollen 3/4 times the fornt bit if that makes sense.... Only thing is to lay down to get the swelling to go down.

Am worried that it will make painful labour evenmore so!

Because I seem to have this as well, don't know if they are varicose veins (seeing a consultant about it tomorrow) but there is a swelling on each side of the "fatty part" and when I lie down it disappear.
I have seen a doctor who thought it might be a hernia, but I am wondering if it's not more likely to be vulva varices as I also suffer from 3 varicose veins on my legs (which I didn't have with my first pregnancy). That's why I'm going to the consultant because a double hernia (as I've got swelling on both sides) is extremely rare (something like 1 in 1000 pregnant women get it).
Apparently whatever it is (especially varicose veins) you labour shouldn't be affected.
