ttc confusion with symptoms

First time on here so bare with me please :)
Ok so I came off the pill 5 months ago, since then I've had very regular periods. They're very heavy periods and can last for 6-7 days, they've always been like that and is very normal for me.i always get bad cramps and bad mood swings
Anyway, I was due my last period on the 7th October but it didn't arrive until 10th October. This time my flow was extremely light for me and only lasted 2-3 days. I thought nothing of it really just that it was a bit odd. I also didn't get any spots on my face which I always get.
Well one week after my period my breasts became large and heavy for about 4 days. Usually pre-period swelling only lasts 1-2 days for me.
My breasts went back to normal and then I started getting twinges below my belly button and my left ovary.

My breasts are swelling again now as I'm due my next period 5th November.
I've been using ovulation test strips (cheap eBay ones) and I've never had a positive, even the control line is very faint so I'm not sure they're working :/
Well two days ago when me and my partner had sex it felt strange and uncomfortable so we stopped. The next day my vagina Walls were so swollen I struggled to check my cervix, when I did feel it it was like a soft swollen ball very high up my vagina so I could hardly reach it.

I've had lots of discharge through all this time but today it turned very thick (I think it may be thrush? ) but my clitoris (sorry for TMI) has swollen and my pubic bone area feels bruised. We hadn't had rough sex so I'm unsure why it would be. My discharge is very thick , dry and gluey white.

Any ideas what is going on? ! I'm not sure if pregnant or an infection or even if the light period and the swelling are connected at all?
Thanks for any advice you can give :)
I've only had one child and he's almost 9 so it's been a while!

You need to pee on a pregnancy test to find out! If it's negative wait until next period is due and if that's weird see the gp.

I used one the day my last period was meant to be due but was negative. I'll take another one tomorrow if I get a chance to go to the shops :) I'm not sure why I'm so swollen, I think if it hasn't gone down in a couple of days I should go to gp. I wasn't sure if swelling was a sign or not?

I had swelling down there too but from around 3 months, it wasn't great. Get a clear blue year, they're the best and Wil put your mind at rest, good luck!

Thanks willow :)
I'm not sure if it might be thrush as I have thick white discharge though. I feel pregnant but I've never had a positive ovulation test :/ my first pregnancy we weren't ttc, I didn't know I was pregnant until I was 3 months gone, I was only 19 years old and had very irregular periods at the time due to the contraception I was using. So I don't remember any of the symptoms I had way back then

Do another test and hopefully it's a positive. If not, I suggest a chat with your gp. It's a little strange never to get a positive opk test. Also very heavy and long periods can be a sign of no ovulation occurring so worth checking it out so you know to deal with it if necessary. Probably all is fine but just something I wondered when you said about the long, heavy periods.

bigbird86 · 27/10/2015 06:53

I'd no idea it could be a sign of not ovulating, I'll do a pregnancy test today and if that's negative then yes I'll definitely be making an appointment with my gp.
I'd been tested for pcos because of the heavy periods and other symptoms in the past but came back negative, I still have the same symptoms though. My mum and sister both have pcos, so I do worry I still might have it or the docs missed something

OP you are probably fine but just with the negative ov tests it made me wonder and you would be better off knowing now rather than spending another year trying only to find out then. My sis is a gp and I remember her telling me that some young girls have very very heavy periods at first as they are not yet ovulating properly and that it can be a sign on anovulation (sp?).

bigbird86 · 27/10/2015 15:39

I appreciate the information :) and it's definitely worth me liking into. Ive always had heavy periods but fell pregnant with my son whilst on the pill so I'd never really thought about ovulation being an issue before.
Took pregnancy test today and was negative :( I'll make an appointment with gp but not sure what they'll do? I've only been ttc for 5 months.
I've heard agnus castus can help ovulation? I don't know anyone who's actually used it though so unsure if it would work

Keep doing the opks and if they continue to be negative throughout your cycle, I think you have a compelling reason to push your gp to do some initial tests now rather than later. He/she may be dismissive but I personally wouldn't accept that. I've heard of people swearing by agnus cactus but I'm pretty cynical and would prefer a proper scientific method of approach. It can't hurt to try if you are already concerned by the negative opk.
