It can be different for everyone I think. DS2 is 5 months and mine hasn't come back yet.
I think it takes longer if you are breastfeeding.

grumpysquash · 18/10/2015 23:07

Some folk will tell you that it doesn't come if you are breastfeeding, and for some it doesn't. Mine did. Varied with different babies, but between 8-10 weeks after birth each time (I was ebf). It can be sooner if you don't bf.

My GP said it was surprising the number of ladies that turn up for a post natal check at 6-8 weeks and are already pregnant again!

Twistedheartache · 18/10/2015 23:08

I've just had my first one & Dd2 turns 1 in 2 weeks. Have virtually stopped breastfeeding now.

Tia2005 · 18/10/2015 23:09

I had. Sex 3 weeks after and the condom split / come off , hope I'm not pregnant some one told me it's not likely that soon after giving birth

She'll be two next month and I'm still waiting!
Am breastfeeding though so obviously that's a big factor.

Tia2005 · 18/10/2015 23:10

It was about 11 months after giving birth, when my DS started sleeping for the whole night (10 hrs or so). That's quite common apparently if you're wholly breastfeeding. If you're not breastfeeding then it can be as soon as 4 weeks after giving birth.

AuntieVenom · 19/10/2015 00:52

Mine came back 6 weeks after having my baby and it was a horror. No-one warned me that the first one was likely to be bad so my poor husband had to go on an emergency run for maternity pads as it was the only thing that coped with the blood loss.

LittleBearPad · 19/10/2015 00:55

You can ovulate without having a period.

Dixiechick17 · 19/10/2015 03:35

I hate to say it, but I was told you are at your most fertile in the weeks after giving birth, which is why I went back on the pill despite breastfeeding. I'd take a test just in case.

Emus · 19/10/2015 03:51

My ds2 is 15 weeks and I got my period at 9 weeks. I'm also not BF. With ds1 my period didn't arrive for 7/8 months though so that's a massive difference!

Bored12345 · 19/10/2015 03:52

15 months first time. 4 months second

WheresMyBurrito · 19/10/2015 04:35

Yeahh I'd be taking a test if I were you.

ispyfispi · 19/10/2015 09:25

19 months for me

ispyfispi · 19/10/2015 09:39

And yes you are often most fertile in the immediate postnatal period. God knows why!

Sighing · 19/10/2015 10:35

I breastfed. My period took 4 weeks after the post birth bleeding stopped (DC1 and 6 weeks DC2). It's really down to your body.
If you have any reason to suspect pregnancy do a test.

nephrofox · 19/10/2015 10:37

6 months first time and 4 months second time. Non-exclusive breast feeder.

Stinkilinky · 19/10/2015 11:00

Nearly 4 months for me. I breastfed for the first 3 weeks

Ava50x · 20/10/2015 12:43

My baby is 7 weeks old, i'm fully breastfeeding and got my period this past Saturday :)

I think everyone is different...

Frazzled2207 · 20/10/2015 18:12

8 months, which was about 6 weeks after stopping breastfeeding.

whittlefish · 21/10/2015 16:28

Mine came back 5 1/2 weeks post birth hardly had a break between post birth bleeding and that starting which was annoying. It was very heavy and very red but apparently the next one should be more normal fingers crossed. I have been bottlefeeding
