No clear pattern of movement

I've just gone 35 weeks, and have felt movement from around 20 weeks. Everything I've read says that by now, the baby should have a clear pattern of movement...but mine doesn't! She's very, very active (I had a scan last week, and she was wriggling around so much, the sonographer asked me if I ever got any peace!), but she definitely doesn't have a particular routine.

How much of a set routine or pattern is normal? Is it very time specific, or is it all much more vague than that? How worried do I need to be?

I think it's more a change in what you are used to.

For me little one always go bananas when I eat. If I ate and got no reaction I would be worried.

Maybe for you it would be amazing
Small bursts of movement rather than constant ones or vice versa depending what is more usual. Or several hours with no movement of little one normally moved constantly.

If ever in doubt drink something cold, caffeinated, sugary like a coke and like on left side. If you can't feel anything in the next hour go and get checked.

Count the kicks website is s good resource.

My DD never had a regular pattern when I was pregnant with her, she was just a fidget bum, so whenever that changed and she was quieter I got checked out.

I'm not as far along as you (29 weeks) but right now mine is time specific. Little wriggles at 4am, big bursts of movement late morning & evening and strong jabs in an afternoon. Other than that he's quiet

I don't think "pattern" is the right term, it's more what's the baby's usual movement so that you know if it changes. Mine is really active so if I haven't felt her in an hour or two, I sit down and have a cold drink - those usually get her moving. But I couldn't say that she has any pattern other than being more active at night.

Yeah I'm 39 weeks and have never felt a specific pattern of movement, she just moves a lot! So if I think I haven't felt anything for a while I'll lie down and concentrate with an icy drink and hey presto! Normally it's because I've been busy doing stuff so she probably has been moving I just haven't noticed.

I think I'd been expecting something a bit more defined and then panicked when I couldn't pick out any particular time of the day when she was inactive or active. All I know is that she moves a lot. My mum tells me I should get used to the uncertainty because apparently it doesn't go away after they arrive either Grin. I'll likely just find something else to worry about!
