So I'm 10 days late for my period , me & longterm partner have had in protected sex after coming off the pill 2 months ago.
Have been feeling sick every morning with often sickness, fatigue & tiredness !
I have taken 2 pregnancy tests, 1 last week & 1 this week...both negative ?
Any advice ? Thanks xx

Normally, by the time you're 10 days late, PG tests are reliable.

They react with HCG, and in some people the levels are slow to rise in early PG, but by 10 days late you'd expect it to be detectable.

It is the winter bug season, so perhaps you're just ill and it's made a number of your body systems a bit weird. Or perhaps your HCG levels are climbing very slowly, or conception could have taken place later on than the textbook timings).

Sorry that's not terribly helpful, but there isn't much you can do other than keep testing, or make a GP appointment to see if they have any other ideas what might be going on.

Yes I think I will keep testing too , have been in contact with my GP and they have advised me too do that too

I took the last test 2 days ago so may be best to take one over next couple of days
Thank you for your advice , I appreciate it

What tests are you using? Some are more reliable than others for early results. Generally the pink dye tests are best. Super drug own brand and first response early results are both good

I'm using clear blue digital tests. I thought they were the best ones ?
Or would you advise superdrug or first response ?

The digital ones aren't actually great for early testing, they tend not to be too sensitive. I can't remember the exact numbers but I think they require a much higher level of hcg to give a positive than the others.

I'd recommend using a first response with first morning urine if af hasn't arrived by tomorrow. Good luck

Hi, I'm not sure if it helps answer your question but when I first came off the combined pill after being on it for 10 years, my periods were all over the place, so it was difficult to know what was a 'late' period. It took a good 9 months to settle down into a recognisable pattern.

Jessrose24 · 15/10/2015 11:55

Okay I will take a first response test first thing tomorrow ! Thank you!

And clarebellski thank you so much for your advise :)
