DVT or cramp?

I'm no stranger to excruciating leg cramps in pregnancy... I'm 30 weeks now and had them in my last pregnancy too.

Had a really nasty one last night that woke me up. Hideous pain.

Today the same leg feels really sore. A kind of crampy muscular pain behind the knee and up into my outer thigh. It's not settling despite stretching, but there's no swelling that I can see.

I called the midwife who wasn't at all concerned, said that cramps were normal. She said if it was DVT I'd be in agony and unable to move. I'm certainly not that bad but it is getting slowly worse.

Has anyone had a DVT? How bad was the pain when you knew?

I've not had a dvt, but I still think you should get this checked out. I had similar after effects from a leg cramp, and the midwife sent me for an ultrasound to check. Perhaps see your gp if your midwife isn't very helpful.

I've never had a DVT but have seen a few people who have (work in healthcare) and although you get pain, the leg (calf and ankle/foot) is normally swollen, hard, and can be red and warm too. Likely it is just cramp, but agree if you're worried you should get it checked. Maybe ask your GP to see you for some reassurance?

I had a clot in my calf at 26 weeks pregnant . I was getting frequent legs cramps at night maybe 2/3 every night and the aching lasted all day after wards for a week. I then saw my leg was harder and veins more visible so I knew I had a lot and had to go to a&e. My leg wasn't swollen thought which the Dr stated doesn't always happen so if your worried do get checked as symptoms can be misleading
