How many nappies to buy/which size - before baby is born

I have just bought two packs (small packs of 24) of size 1 nappies from Aldi. I'm wondering whether to get more/ wait and see how big baby is/stock up on bigger sizes? Or whether to wait and try in case the baby doesn't get on with this brand.

My baby is measuring big on the 95th centile (according to growth scans) with 3 weeks to go, so I don't think it is likely we will need to bother with size 0.

They go through about 8-10 nappies a day when they're newborn so 2 packs should see you ok in hospital.

To be honest, nappies are about the easiest thing to get at short notice so I wouldn't stock up too much. Different people find they get on with different brands and you don't want to be lumbered with packets of nappies that don't suit your dcs particular shape.

Don't stock up, I have packs and packs of newborn sizes - DD decided to promptly graduate to size 3. As said, they're easily available. You can of course buy a couple of packs of bigger ones, you will need them at some stage and they won't go bad.

Don't buy any more. Different nappies suit different shapes babies - tall, chubby, skinny, fat legs, thin legs. Also, your baby's skin may be sensitive to some and not others.

Don't stock up.

Also don't believe measurements too much. DS was going to be 10lbs. He was under 8!

Thanks, that's what I needed to know. I'm not relying on the measurements too much but thinking baby is unlikely to be super tiny if they are saying it is going to be 10lb so don't think I need the tiny size and size 1 should do.

Size 1 worked with care on my long narrow 6.11 dd. Was pleased to be able to move on to size 2 at 7 weeks as capacity was becoming an issue!

Also don't rely on the sizes on the packets - DS outgrew size 3 before, according to the packet, he should have even grown into them - agree with bikerunski about babies shapes.
