I was hoping for some advice or maybe hand holding! I am 14 weeks pregnant with my second child and sleep roughly 12-18 hours a day. It's really getting out of hand! I've had my bloods checked and they are fine. I have an underactive thyroid and taking meds for it but bloods are fine for this too. I've had to take a few days off work and my DP has pretty much been a single parent (looking after DD, cooking, cleaning, everything!) for the last 6 weeks or so and I just feel like I'm taking the piss. I keep getting told it's normal...is it??? I don't know what else to do!

I was like this until about 14/15 weeks then was suddenly full of energy and felt wonderful... Until around 28 weeks when I felt like a whale with raging acid reflux!

Sounds normal. I'm shattered. I just read in 'Bumpology' that progesterone in a mild anasthetic, which explains why I could nap at any point in the day despite having done sod-all.

DH said with each PG I was basically dormant in trimesters 1 and 3, but fine (energetic even) in 2. Lean on your DP when you need to. It'll all come good in the end.

Thanks all. It's getting to be a busy time in work and I think they think I'm just using the pregnancy as an excuse to have days off (despite having maybe 2 days off in the last 6 years and no days off in my last pregnancy!) and I feel for my DP doing bloody everything. I hope it will pass and I get some energy coming my way soon.

Also think it is more tiring second time round as you can't rest as you might do in a first pregnancy as you have an older child to look after. Am 13 weeks and totally drained. Just trying to hold on to that memory of feeling well in the middle stage of pregnancy & hoping it comes quick!

I felt like this from 5-13wks. It was crippling and I had no idea it would be like that!

TinklyLittleLaugh · 12/10/2015 20:23

When I had my youngest I was 41 and exhausted just walking across the room. I was desperately worried that I'd pushed my body into ME or something.

However, a day or so after giving birth I was positively skipping around. Just be kind to yourself OP.

I am 16 weeks and this is my first. I feel exhausted. I work full time and try and go to the gym too, but I am so tired to the point where I keep booking long weekends off so I can have extra lay ins. I didn't get up until midday today and still feel tired. Dreading work tomorrow Sad

I was like this with my third. Sadly my DH works away a lot so I was sleeping 10 hours and dragging myself through the day.

My hcg was off the charts and the mw said that was probably causing it.

Doctors and patients is a good game with your DD. As is hairdresser.

I am 12 weeks. Sleeping 11 hours a night during the week and really look forward to long lie at weekend!! This tiredness came as such a shock, no one told me about the level of exhaustion. Also exercise is totally out of question just now (v. unlike me).
