At about 3 months i had a really bad pain in my upper tummy/abdomin, it came on about 3 times pretty bad, than a fourth time REALLY painfull! Then no sooner had it come it had gone.

I spoke to my midwife & she said" it must be something you have eaten" which i pretty sure it wasnt as ive a cast iron stomache!

The same thing happend a few days ago, i exactly the same way, im now 6 months.

Any idears?

Surely it couldnt be Braxton Hicks at 3 months?

Any info much apprciated.

unexplainable odd pains are part and parcel of pregnancy.....BH can be painful, especially as the pregnancy progresses, but they are not confined to the top of the bump.

think about how much all your muscles and ligaments are moving and stretcing, the uterus itslef especially......odd aches and pains are to be expected.

as long as the pain is not accompanied by blood or fluid loss and is not getting worse, and the midwife has checked you out, try not to worry too much.....easier said than done.

take care of yourself and get to know what is normal for you....your body will put you through a lot more twinges before LO arrives...

and of course, you can always call the midwife it you are concerned....

HTH !!!!

Sounds like Braxton Hicks mollymolly. Is this your first pregnancy? I had no BH at all in my first, but in my second have had lots, and some are really painful, almost like real contractions. Got the first ones at about 3 months as well.

Silly question maybe, but do they feel like muscular pains or a pain 'inside' your tummy? I spent a night in hospital at 26 weeks after a weekend away where we did lots of walking. I was doubled up in pain the day after we returned, but I always knew that it wasn't a wind/indigenstion pain as I could feel them around my tummy. Docs put it down to muscle strain and the general stretching of the ligaments during pregnancy - hurt like hell though!

It could be kind of IBS symptoms - I get pains like that sometimes - try to remember what you have eaten and if the same thing sets it off. If your stomach muscles spasm it does feel like you're in labour - the pain can be excrutiating - but do get checked out if you get pains because better to be safe than sorry (apologies for crap saying!).

I thought it may be BH at first, but this is my first pregnancy, would i really get them as early as 3 months?

I got bh really early in this pregnancy, I think about 3 months can't really remember tbh. I also get a funny pain in the top of my tummy it's like someone poking me really hard. I think it's my stomach muscles (not sure if I injured something in my last pg) but it occasionally combines with a bh and can be quite painful.

I woke up the other night with the same thing - REALLY painful high up just under my ribs but above my bump - where I would imagine my poor stomach is squished at the moment. Took some deflatine and sat upright for about 20 minutes - deflatine worked a treat and afer a few musical moments it had gone.

Have had it a few times now throughout and I'm 33 weeks.
