Am I mad? Been trying for 7 months and feel like giving up.

No you are not mad - plenty of women conceive in their 40s. Has the man in your life been checked out?

I started trying at 41 and it took me 15 months. I also had a MC 6 months ago. We were actually going to stop trying at the end of the year, but I am now 12 weeks pregnant.

Your cycle might not be so regular and tbh I couldn't actually tell if I was ovulating or not unlike when I was younger. Just be patient and don't try too hard (easier said than done though!

I'm 28 and it took us over a year, don't give up, lots of luck being sent ur way!!

Perhaps suggest you both go and get checked out - make sure everything is in working order - give it a few more months perhaps?

Don't give up wotsits. That's not that long. I think the stats are an average of 10 months to conceive at any age. Keep going! I'm 42 and 13 weeks pregnant - after 3 mcs, it took 15 months. It's completely different for everyone.

You can go to your GP for basic tests after 6m of trying at your age?
Definitely worth trying.

Defo not mad! I'm 39 and pregnant with my first. - that's only 3 yrs younger than you !

Sorry to ask the obvious - but have you tried ovulation tests? Clear blue Dual hormone are ace, expensive but they work!

Thank you of all your advice and words of encouragement. I think I'm just scared as turn 43 in a few months and it all seems so out of reach. Can feel next cycle coming and it's just so frustrating knowing when or even if it might happen.

Yes Brummiegirl15 have been using the clear blue opks and even had day 21 test last month and this month - last month progesterone low at 15 and this month is at 50, so am so confused about what's going on. I will keep going though and go and see some more doctors as you all suggest.

You're not mad at all. I was 41 when I got my BFP - currently 19 +1 and will be just shy of 42 when baby is born.

We started trying in Nov 2013 and had a bit of a break from Dec 2014 to May 2015. Started trying again this June, so first month back on the TTC horse and we hit the jackpot. DH is already starting to think about #2!

I had my first baby the week I turned 41 and the second a few months after turning 43. I think I might have managed a third but I was too tired!
Friend just had her fourth naturally at 43 after 3 IVF babies- it was a bit of a shock-, and another friend had hers at the same ages as me. I also know someone who had her first five years ago at 46, and many other natural pregs in the 40s. 7 months isn't very long, eat well, have some accupuncture, and try not to worry about it. Good luck!

As others said keep trying, my first took 3 years, I had her at 38 then my 2nd at 40.
Easier said than done but relax and enjoy trying, with my first it happened a couple of months after I'd given up hope and stopped obsessing over it.

Thanks everyone, I will try and stay positive. Have had a bit of melt down today but the positive stories are nice to hear. Good to hear of someone of 46 having a baby SirVixofVixHall. The stats scare me as it all changes after 42 and even if I got pregnant now I'd be 43 1/2 when I had it. I've heardacupuncture is a good idea so will try that.

I'm 24 weeks pregnant with my first and I'm 45! It took 18 months and I had one MC. It may take a bit longer at this age, but I'd suggest keep on going!
