Finding out sex

Hi,

Just wondering on people's opinions on finding out the sex. I already have a DD and I honestly don't mind if we have a girl or boy.

I am not inclined to have the gender scan, however, my DH is REALLY excited about knowing.

We didn't know with our DD and when she arrived she wasn't announced!!

Any experiences with finding out at scan? Was it all you hoped or anti climatic?

We found out. My husband was so excited to know I didn't have the heart to say no. I think it has helped him to feel closer to the baby, easy for me because I'm pregnant but knowing more about our little one has made it more real for him.

We paid to have a gender scan early because I was too impatient to wait for the 20 week scan!!

we were lucky, in that both DH and I wanted to find out ahead of time - it's both our first times so it helped us both bond with her. :)

I found out for my second dd, I already had Dd 1 and basically I just wanted to know if I could reuse all the stuff I already had Grin

Hughpugh, I think I will too. He is so excited about finding out. I really doesn't matter to me.

Did you find it exciting to find out? I am nervous if I know I won't be excited finding out at a scan.

It really didn't matter to me, in fact I probably would have been happier to wait, but DP was very excited and keen to find out the sex and seeing as he is so much more removed from the pregnancy stage of parenthood than I am (Grin) I thought it would be a nice way for him to feel more connected to the baby.

Spnfan we would be doing the same. Do they give a good scan too? Or just straight to the gender?

Donge13 I am curious whether I can reuse, if they could share a room etc!

Also my DD always says she wants a baby sister!!

Dachshund I think he does want to be more included. He is really pushing for it. Whereas, I am a bit like you and think I would rather wait

He hasn't said, but I know he wants a boy, I would worry if it is a girl he would be disappointed. I know this is probably daft though, he dotes on DD1. I doubt he wouldn't if it was another DD

Sometimes you cant help but find out because you get flashed for want of a better word.

When I was pregnant with my DD, myself and dh (we didn't want to know) were convinced at her 20 week scan that we had seen something in between her legs (turns out it was her umbilical cord) so when we went for our 4d scan at about 32 weeks we did end up finding out... Lovely little girl.

When I was pregnant with identical twins in 2012 (they were stillborn sadly) one of the babies flashed us during one of their many many many scans... Meaning both of them were boys of course.

This pregnancy I didn't really mind or want to know but dh did and the sonographer said to me that if I really didn't want to know I would have to turn my head away from the screen or close my eyes and because of what had happened with the twins - I didn't want to miss a thing cue the aerosmith so again we got flash. Penis. Boy. Because of my history I have had 6 scans confirming boy (they are medical scans and I only ask "can you just have a quick double-check" at the very end..
keep dreaming its going to be a girl

I'm envious of people who dont find out but at the same time finding out is so much easier... X

AJmcF We had a scan with BabyBond (i think it was!) It was great - we were in there for about 20 minutes in all - they spent ages with us showing us how she was sitting etc. It was a really good experience for us.

They did a 3d scan and switched to 4d part way though. :)

I didn't want to find out (my first, oh's second -he wanted to know) but my lb had his jewels on display for all to see!
Was a bit gutted at finding out, but I didn't mind if I was having a boy or girl xx

I really want to find out, DH didn't mind until he 'met' DC for the 1st time at the 12 week scan. After that he was like "I REALLY want to know now". I would like a girl and he would like a boy (but neither of us mind really!)

I love knowing. Lovely to refer to her as 'her' rather than it. Call her by name. Makes it all seem less abstract somehow.
