Membrane sweep

Hi, so I am now 41 weeks pregnant with my 2nd baby. I had a membrane sweep yesterday and not sure if it's going to work..

I am 2cm dilated and MW said my cervix is still quite thick but performed it successfully.

With my FB I had one at 40w 3d and had him within 48 hours.

Didn't feel much different after it yesterday so went for a long walk and had sex that night. Straight after DTD I had a massive bit of mucus plug with brown blood come out and since have been having mild contractions and really bad pressure downstairs.

I am due to be induced on Tuesday night but really don't want to be!

How quickly did everyone else go into labour and does it sound like it's starting for me? Xxx

I had a second sweep on Sunday. Was told 2-3 cm and 50% effaced apart from losing the plug one the Sunday and Monday I've had nothing since.
If you having pressure and contractions it sounds like you might be on your way! Smile

I had a sweep and the following day I lost my plug and had, shall we say, tummy problems! The day after that I went into labour at 11pm and had my babe at 7am the next day...so 48 hours sounds about right :) How exciting. Good luck x

Sounds to me like it's starting!

I had three sweeps in my last pregnancy. After the last one (done at about 40 + 11) I had sex (several times), went swimming, and did a lot of walking. I think I lost the mucus plug soon after the sweep and I went into labour about 36 hrs later.

Also, for what it's worth, I went from 2cm dilated to baby in arms within 3 hours....

also 41 weeks pregnant and had a sweep on wednesday, lost the mucus plug yesterday, had some pressure and irregular contractions, 48 hours later... nothing occurring. my midwife said sweeps were successful 70% of the time but i've since found stats referring to 25% success rate. ho hum. also booked for induction on tuesday.

i think i started to believe people who said second babies arrive earlier... but my sister in law informed me both her second and third were two weeks over and started with induction.

i guess the message is all babies are different.

and that people like to generalise.

which can lead to raised expectations.

can anyone tell i'm a bit bored of this right now? :-)

blah blah.

good luck nicole and sleepyme.
