Anyone else on progesterone pessaries....im 9 weeks pregnant...was put on cyclogest last week after an operation to remove ovarian cysts.

Was wondering what side effects people have ? I seem to be having a lot of cramping but not sure if that is related to the operation still. And i also feel like the nausea has gotten so much worse. I had no nausea before !

I had them from 24 weeks, no side effects other than crap hair, which I used of to get when on the progesterone only pill.

I was on then until 14 weeks following successful IVF. I didn't have any side effects other than finding them incredibly messy. Think cramping and nausea are par for the course in early pregnancy.

I've just gone on them at 14 weeks. I've noticed a lot more cramps, not bad, just 'there' if you know what I mean. My moods are also properly all over the place which is unusual for me even when I'm pregnant.

The waxy discharge and scum in the toilet (sorry TMI) is just grim /boak

So glamorous Grin

Some people say that progesterone can 'enhance' pregnancy symptoms, so maybe that's why you feel more nauseous. On the other hand, it's very normal for nausea to increase as you progress, so it's not necessarily down to the cyclogest.

I've taken it for this and my previous pregnancy, and the main side effects I had were wind and mild diarrhoea. The discharge is a bit grim, however, you can use the 'back door', which is much much less messy! The pessaries can also be quite irritating when used vaginally, so don't freak out if you experience some bleeding.
I had no problems using the back door with them, would definitely recommend that.
