Has a sweep ever worked for anyone at 38 weeks?

Being induced at 39 weeks for GD but midwife said she'd give me sweep at 38 weeks (and again couple of days later) to see if we can start things off as I would prefer drip induction to pessary induction (had drip induction with dc1 and found the speed and also having epidural at same time a good thing, but they can only do this if cervix is open).

Just wondered if anyone had sweep at similar time or for similar reasons and whether this worked?

Had two sweeps with dc2 and he was still two weeks late.

I had one at 37 weeks and was 1cm dilated. It didn't bring on labour though.

I had 3 with my first pregnancy, 38, 39 and 40+2 weeks, the last one was in the hospital, local midwife did the first 2, I got my first contraction less than an hour after the 3rd, I don't think they will work unless the baby is ready to move anyway. good luck!
