What is this?! Feels like a Big Dipper going through my vagina! I'm 37.5 weeks and it's sudden shooting pain, feels a bit like need to urinate and Tummy sometimes tightens then shocking omg can't move for an instant pain but goes again almost immediately! Is this normal?!

If it's fanny daggers yes many women get them I'm 32 weeks and have them they really are debilitating for the moment you have them

iwantgin · 05/10/2015 17:37

Fanny Daggers. Grin

As far as I remember it's just everything, baby included shifting around and getting ready.

Takes you by surprise though doesn't it ?

TreeSparrow · 05/10/2015 17:40

I'm 30wks and have had this a few times. It really stops you in your tracks. Disappears in a moment. I think it's ligament pain but I'm not sure.

Ladypug · 05/10/2015 17:50

See, I've had some sharp shooting pains (like a vaginal stitch) since about week 32 which I thought was fanny daggers, this is full on! I hate it, body keeps tensing up ready for the next one - honestly feels like there is a roller coaster in there, don't like it!!!

Oh I remember this. Bloody hurts. I think it's normal.

Ladypug · 05/10/2015 17:55

How log does it go on for rattle?

I got it daily during the last few weeks. (Only maybe once or twice a day). Stopped when I gave birth. Maybe just double check with your mw when you have your next appointment.

StrawberrytallCake · 05/10/2015 19:15

I had these terribly too, happened every time I went to boots.

Are you getting them mostly when you wander around? I'm sure I was told that's the baby's head on your cervix. The other is possibly Braxton Hicks had none with dc1 but dc2 came with lots of water and so induced more of them - practice contractions! Do you need to have a little bit more rest? Also making sure I drank lots of water helped me.

It sounds like bacterial vaginosis.
Very sharp pains inside vagina are common symptoms.

Ladypug · 05/10/2015 19:33

I'm getting them more when I stand up but also getting them sat down. They've stopped now but God knows for how long! I'm getting them in conjunction with the odd Braxton Hicks!

Ladypug · 05/10/2015 19:56

I had it when pregnant with my fifth child. Never had it before or since. It was also a mystery as to what was causing the pains which were worse when walking.

MissSmiley · 05/10/2015 20:50

Can't remember if I had treatment (antibiotics?) during pregnancy or afterwards. It was right near the end I do remember.
Doctor at hospital diagnosed it after I had done blood tests.

Ladypug · 05/10/2015 21:03

Hi MissSmiley,

I was recently tested for stuff like this as had a UTI and was on antibiotics for that so think they would have caught it if it were that. I did find out I have strep B though so maybe that's related

Wow MissS I had no idea - chances are I might have had something like that (scratch doctor from my list of possible occupations, sorry Ladypug) I did tell my midwife but wasn't ever tested for anything!
