Hi all. I am supposedly 6+3 weeks.

Today I went to the EPU because I had bad cramping and a slight spot over the weekend (I'll admit I did over exaggerate the pain level and perhaps just wanted to be reassured my baby was okay after miscarrying a few months back).

Since I found out I was pregnant on the 16th September, nothing seemed 'right'. I've not gotten a single symptom and I did have sore breasts, but that's all disappeared.

The doctor wanted an ultrasound because he wasn't happy with how uncomfortable I was with her touching the right hand side of my lower abdomen/uterus. She suspected an eptopic and said she'd be looking for the sac to be in the right location.

I had the scan, and the doctor came along with me. The sonographer said the pregnancy was indeed in the correct place (so highly unlikely to be eptopic), but what I found unusual was that the sac was a tiny pinprick! I even had to say myself 'that doesn't look like a six week scan' and her reply was no looks much earlier than that. My bloods came back and they were just 800, which I've looked up and appears abnormal for a 5/6 week pregnancy, yet my doctor didn't comment upon that and just asked for me to return for bloods in 48 hours ensure they go up.

Before I left the hospital I went to the loo and when I checked my cervix (not when I wiped or anything), there was a little string of blood and I've got this blood tinged discharge ever since! Why did the spotting stop Sunday and all of a sudden today after a Tranvaginal scan I'm bleeding? Can those scans cause minor bleeding because the cervix is sensitive?

The issue is this, I can't be less than a good 5/6 weeks, because I've known since the 16th September! Does this automatically mean my pregnancy will end in a miscarriage and hasn't developed properly?

I feel like a selfish cow for exaggerating symptoms for a scan, but it seems as if I've now paid my dues and got my just deserts Sad

Even if my HcG levels DO double, that's still not normal to see a tiny pin prick of a sac at 5/6 weeks, is it?

Thank you all, this is so so hard for me, as I can imagine it is for everyone xxxxx

I didn't even see a sac until 5 weeks. I had a ruptured ovarian cyst at 4-5 weeks my hcg levels were 270 and at 5-6 weeks my hcg levels had only reached 450 I didn't see a heartbeat or baby til 7 weeks.

May I just advise you aswell that you should not be checking your cervix. Professionals are trained in this and you aren't so please Incase u hurt yourself don't check inside.

And as for you saying you can't be less than 5/6 weeks I was meant to be 7 weeks and had to be 7 weeks by dates and when I found out but no wasn't I was only measuring 4 weeks so I'm meant to be due 7th November but they put my due date back until 30 th November. I'm now 32 weeks and my pregnancy survived through a ruptured cyst and very very low hcg levels. I've had 4 previous miscarriages so I do know your pain

Hi Mummyneedinganswers, thank you so much for the reassurance and congratulations!

The only thing is, I've got bloody CM and you didn't which worries me as it's an even further implication that I'm miscarrying! Very scary but I'm trying to remain calm.

What confuses me is if I was only 4/5 weeks, that means I'd have known I was pregnant from the moment of conception which isn't possible :(

I had a number of things I had fluid from the ruptured cyst leaking out of me every minute and it was coloured pink I also did have two bleeds. And yes I would have know from before I even conceived but that's how mine was I was confused but was just thankful baby was still there.

It's normal to spot and have some blood in pregnancy many woman experience it early on unless it starts to become heavy I wouldn't worry phone your epu for advice if your worried.

I was given morphine for pain when I would have been 4 weeks as the pain of the cyst was horrendous and did have bleeds after. There is always hope

Thank you so much for reassuring me, I suppose there's a good chance left yet. It's odd because the pain I'm feeling isn't anywhere what the uterus, just in my lower tummy Hmm

Many things happen in pregnancy though your body has to adjust. I experienced period pain until 13 weeks and then at 17 weeks got bad ligament pain and now at 32 weeks I'm just sore all over.

Try to relax and get some sleep. And see what you hcg levels are at your next appointment x

Did they measure the size of th gestational sac? I had an early scan ( due to a stillbirth) and it was 11mm and empty, and when had next scan 2.5 weeks later ( no blood tests as had no pain I just did not know where my dates were) there was a heartbeat. Was told normal for empty sac at that stage. If it had been bigger and empty then more concern.

The internal scan could have irritated the cervix and caused the blood in the CM. Don't feel guilty for a bit of exaggeration at the hospital. Many of us (me included) do it every now and then I'm sure.

Hi Zoey, I have been going through something very similar, I went to EPAU 2.5 weeks ago with bleeding at what should have been 7+2 but they only found a teeny little sac which they couldn't be sure was in the right place. blood tests over several days showed slowly rising HCG and another scan showed little growth. The doctors were convinced I had an ectopic pregnancy but decided as I was not in pain to leave it a week and scan again. That scan was yesterday and finally they found a much bigger sac with a baby and a heartbeat in it! The baby measured yesterday at 6w3d but by my dates I should have been 8+6. Like you, I would have had to have POAS almost on the day I conceived but there it is.

I wouldn't worry too much about what levels google says are abnormal for a certain gestational age as every pregnancy is different and the ranges are huge. I also had huge sore boobs which are no longer sore and have no other symptoms but I am hopeful. I have been losing brown clotty gunk for 3 weeks now which yesterday turned to red bleeding like a period (though the clots have eased), the MW suggested it may be the discharging of a cyst I had on my ovary which was much larger a week ago than it is now.

mummyneedinganswers its very reassuring for me to read your story, gives me hope that my little baby will hang in there and do fine
