When did you feel baby move?

Morning, just wondering when you all felt baby move (first pregnancy) 17 weeks here and I'm not sure if I have felt anything.

Also, is it normal to have slight (not painful) type period pains? I have this and wondered if it is normal because of stretching/moving bits inside or if I should be worried?

I've felt little fidget move from 18 weeks and this is my second. Don't worry. I think I was nearly 20 when I felt my first one.

Pains not so sure on with first was 6 years ago. But I do feel uncomfortable this time. Give your midwife a call if you're that unsure

I was nearly 22 weeks and was getting a bit worried but told at 20 week scan I had anterior placenta so that's why. And now further on the movements are plentiful but all inside and occasionally at the sides of the tummy.

First, anterior placenta I think I felt him move around 18 weeks. This one, posterior placenta, I honestly started feeling flips at around 12 weeks. I didn't believe them at first but yep, it's the same feelings now I'm over 20 weeks, just stronger.

First pregnancy 20 weeks, second 22. Anterior placenta with both. 17 weeks is still really early. Good luck with your pregnancy

Thank you. I just can't wait to start feeling it move. I think it would make me less paranoid about everything.

I just googled the pains and it said that unless it's with bleeding then there shouldn't be anything to worry about. I think it's more if I sit in a bad position really

Sepa,I felt that paranoia with both pregnancies. When I went for my 20 week scan I asked the sonographer when I should start to worry. He said to speak to my midwife if I hadn't felt any movement by 24-26 weeks. Anything earlier than that is considered normal.

I was thinking of posting this thread! I'm 18+2 with my first and haven't felt diddly squat yet. Desperate to start feeling something.

I get sort of pains sometimes, not really period pains, more like stretching pains. Unless you start feeling excruciating cramps or have bleeding I don't think there's anything to worry about.

I think they are more stretching pains really. They are not there all the time. I'm not overly worried really just a very paranoid person!

18 weeks with DC1, but I wasn't certain until 20 weeks.

18 weeks again with DC2 but I knew what it felt like this time, so was more aware, iyswim.

I was 14 weeks but everyone said it was too early so I was 17 weeks until I really believed it was baby, i'd been right at 14 weeks. I had stretchy pains too, still get them sometimes as well. I'm now 25 weeks.

Anterior placenta with 1st and think it was 16-18 weeks yet weirdly posterior placenta with this one and 19-20 weeks.

About 16 weeks with first but it was really just a bubbly feeling then so could easily be mistaken for gas and could only feel when lying down concentrating on it! Can't remember when it changes to proper kicks etc that you can't ignore but probably a while after.

I've got an anterior placenta and whilst I felt the odd flutter around 18 weeks I then felt nothing afterwards.

I actually went to triage at 21 weeks because I was freaking out - other friends at 20 weeks were feeling loads and I wasn't - all was fine. Was told still a bit early for anterior placenta.

22 weeks on the nose - she starts kicking like crazy and hasn't stopped since!

This is my first baby but I've had 3 miscarriages prior to this so was getting really frightened so I totally get how uneasy you feel.

It's just too early and your baby will start kicking the living day lights out of you fairly soon!

May be a silly question but what is the placenta thing?

Not at all. Anterior placenta is where the placenta is at the front of the uterus, so against the tummy. So when your baby kicks you would normally feel it in front. With an anterior placenta, this is cushioning it to begin with so you have to wait until they are a bit bigger.

Posterior placenta is on the back of the uterus and placenta previa is where the placenta is at the bottom covering the entrance to the cervix.

But you won't know what position your placenta is in until your 20 wk scan

19 weeks over here sepa, my placenta is posterior. I went straight into little kicks though so I think I didn't pick up on the early flutters. You'll feel the baby in good time, I'm afraid it's a case of just being as patient as you can.

With my first I never got the fluttery feeling (maybe due to anterior placenta?), but felt distinct prodding at 18 weeks. It was very sporadic until 21-22 weeks or so though!

I'm currently 15 weeks with DC2 and nothing as yet, just the usual twinges as things grow/stretch. I was lying on my back in bed this morning and sneezed - good grief, the pain in my belly! I will be rolling over to sneeze from now on...

Around 20 weeks for me! Dont worry it will happen!

evilgiraffe - my god the sneezing thing hurts. I had to pull my legs up to my belly to sneeze for ages!

DD1 - around 14 weeks
DD2 - around 18 weeks (anterior placenta)
Was getting very impatient as everywhere you read that you're supposed to feel them earlier second time round... but now at 31 weeks I'm getting a right old kicking most nights!

I remember well the feeling of waiting for them to move. It doesn't feel at all how you'd expect at first. It's a little bit like when you're at a party and you can feel the beat of the music in the wooden floor on which you're standing. Only that thrum is somewhere deep inside you.

I had an anterior placenta (at the front) with my first and I first felt her at 17 weeks but it was that tiny little beat. With my second, I had a posterior placenta (at the back) and at 14 weeks, you could see ds flipping around from outside. At my 16 week check, he kicked the midwife, who swore and dropped her doppler.

I think I felt mine slightly earlier than the norm because I have a very short body too. My uterus popped much earlier than anticipated and the baby was much higher up, much sooner. I had less room for them. My friend who is very tall had a baby who could tuck right down in her pelvis for ages and she looked slim for most of her pregnancy. It was barely noticeable that she was pregnant until 8 months. I looked like a weeble by 6 months...

Not until two days after our 20wk scan which was reassuring as I didn't feel any butterflies or anything and was beginning to panic, until at the scan they said that baby was very active!

I think my first flutters were around 14 weeks and from around 17 or 18 weeks I had noticeable kicks and punches, occasionally. Now at just over 20 weeks I get regular movement, usually after eating, when I lay down in bed or wake up and move around more in the morning! It's very exciting (it's my first)! Can't wait till my OH can fee the movements too! They are sometimes strong enough but it's tricky for him to catch them before they stop!

About 18-19 weeks for me (first baby and placenta at the back), very subtle though and for a while I wasn't sure if they were movements or not. The best description I read was how it feels when you hold a goldfish in a plastic bag (I know how random that sounds!).
