Baby is 1 week old and have rather sore piles. Bought some anusol cream and have just seen you can't use if breast feeding (which I am) surely I can use this and it won't effect the milk? If not what else can I use

I'm sure it's fine to use when breastfeeding, like most creams are. It will not get into your milk supply as you are not digesting it. I'm sure someone with more knowledge will be along soon, but I've taken lots of things breastfeeding and always asked doctor or pharmacy first and most things are fine in small doses as not much gets into the milk anyway

Midwife told me not to bother with the cream and use the suppositories. Also whatever you do don't get constipated, if you are, get lactulose.

Oh and congrats on baby Smile

Thanks guys. Will they just go away on their own eventually? Baby is lovely!

Yes they will go but the thing is they tend to come back if you get constipated. Although for some people they are just a postpartum thing and they never get them again.

Try the Anusol suppositories and they should be gone in a few days.

Enjoy your newborn snuggles! Smile

The anusol without hydrocortisone says it's fine to use pregnant/bf. Although I don't think it's as effective, it's better than nothing

They may go away by themselves, but if they don't then please go to your gp. They can prescribe something stronger and more effective than you can get over the counter and it will be free as you have an exemption.
