I have an awful feeling I have contracted listeria.
This morning my stomach was churning and tmi but I did a very runny poo. Now four hours later I have stomach churning again and I am fearing I have contracted the disease. Thinking back wednesday I had a wimpy milkshake without thinking much about it but now I am wondering if it has made me ill.
I feel sick but I have had terrible morning sickness and still have it at sixteen weeks and I am on metoclopramide for it but cant shake the feeling that I have listeria and something terrible will happen to the baby.

Highly unlikely you've contracted Listeria from a milkshake, much more likely from an unwashed piece of fruit. You may have caught a run of the mill tummy bug, there are a few going round. Wouldn't worry unless it lasts more than 3 days. Just keep hydrated.

Do you have an other symptoms? Stiff neck, fever?

Ok, firstly, it's highly unlikely you have listeria. I've had random bouts of the runs at regular intervals throughout - it really does a number on your bowels, does pregnancy.

Secondly, while I wouldn't have one from an ice cream van, the big fast food chains are pretty good on hygiene and their equipment Is cleaned daily. It's very unlikely you'd contract listeria from wimpy - the last big outbreaks have been pre packed salads and veg/fruits.

But of course you want to be on the safe side - do you have fever, chills and muscle aches? Listeria presents as basically like mild flu with awful D&v. If you're worried, give your midwife a call, but odds on, you're ok. :)
