High white blood count

Just had my surgery on the phone asking me to go in I couldn't but they were concerned about a high white blood count on my booking bloods which were done on Wednesday. They think I might have an infection. I'm to go in on Monday and have been told to see a Dr in the meantime if I develop any symptoms.
Can anyone reassure me, also is it likely they'll want to take blood again? I have awful veins and need to see a phlebotomy nurse to get anything out.

I think you produce more white blood cells when you are fighting an infection so it's quite normal especially if you are feeling run down.
I've no idea about wanting another test though but if they aren't seeing you until Monday it can't be urgent (as it's a normal thing to produce more white cells .. See above) so saying you need to see a specialist for the sample should be fine.
Hope that was reassuring enough??
Kx
