This only started today and has gotten progressively darker, not heavy, no cramps and very thin texture....any thoughts/experience? X

Ime this can go either way, earlier this year I had the same and within 24hrs it was clear I was having a miscarriage.

I am now 13 wks preg and again at 5 wks I had brown spitting, mainly when I wiped it lasted s day or two then went away, I had a bit a again at 12wks but scans have shown healthy wriggly baby.

Brown blood is old blood and the consultant told me it was very common and not to be concerned unless it turned red and I had pain.

Fingers crossed for you xx

Spotting not spitting...

littlek86 · 29/09/2015 18:54

Yeah this is only when I wipe, how dark did it get for you? This morning was hardly visible, now it's darker bit still definitely brown not red x

Mine was quite dark at times, for me it was like the very start and end of my period, so a bit mucousy almost? Brown mixed with the normal discharge I get. It's horrible and made me panic but midwife and consultant said it's very common and on the occasion I miscarried (Feb this year) it was very apparent quite quickly. Whereas this time it just stayed brown and went after 48hrs, horribly scary though.

I will keep everything crossed for you xxx

That is exactly the consistency, thanks for the comments. I think I will have to sit it out, appreciate you saying that xxx

Hi again little86 - I have this too (just replied to your other post today). Been having it for past 5-6 days and so went to see my doctor today, who was lovely, She felt my tummy which she said was nice and soft and asked if I've been having any pain - I haven;t - which she said was a good sign. She's organised a scan at an Early Pregnancy Unit next Monday - suggest you might want to do the same to be on the safe side. I've also been told it's not uncommon to have this, but as it's still so early it's hard not to think the worst!

littlek86 · 29/09/2015 19:04

Hi Ally, I think this is the exact way it will go for me, awaiting a call back to probably have an early scan. How far are you? Xx

I'm 5+3, have been having the brown discharge since last Thursday, so nearly 6 days now. It's varied between being watery brown/dusky red, to tan coloured and thicker to quite dark brown again (sorry if tmi!). But never bright red, which I'm hoping is a good sign. Just wish it would stop! It's horrible being in limbo but at least a scan should be able to give an answer either way. I'd definitely book it asap - I think if you spot or bleed the doctor should recommend it. I felt a bit silly today - almost as if I wasn't pregnant but pretending I was, but the doctor was brilliant.

I had this at 11 weeks. Dark brown and watery blood when I wiped. The next day it was light pink but still very watery. I went to the docs and was told brown or pink is usually fine. Brown is old blood. I was told to go to and e if i had any red, thick blood. With me it stopped after 3 days. Fingers crossed for you op.

Thanks dinosaur!

Just to add - have been pregnancy testing every day just to check hcg levels are still there. Lines still appearing quickly and dark, think I will continue until next Monday so can at least sense if the hog drops. Might be silly (and expensive) but I can't stand the waiting!

littlek86 · 29/09/2015 19:21

This is only as dark as my tests have gotten over 4 days, we are basically exactly the same stage Ally x

I had this last night and went for a scan today at epu and it showed a little white blob of a baby with a heartbeat measuring 8+1 which was about what I was expecting. They said it was probably old implantation bleeding that took a while to work its way out. Ring your epu and see what they say.

ally1983 · 29/09/2015 19:28

littlek86 that's pretty much the same as what my tests look like - not sure if that's just what the tests look like even if your hcg levels get higher? Maybe some of the ladies who are a little further on can help??

that's great we're at the same stage - fingers crossed we can keep each other company for the next 8 months! xx

ODog congrats that your EPU scan went well!

littlek86 · 29/09/2015 19:30

Yeah Odog, congrats....that's a great outcome.

Ally...let's stay in touch! I will be testing again in the morning! X

Not to worry you further but just when you say it is very thin - a prune juice like discharge can be a symptom of an ectopic pregnancy (and was in my case)

Glad to see you've contacted the docs and hope you get a scan soon but please be vigilant for any pain in your side and go to a&e if you get any.
