i went to the doc today and found out i was 6 wks and 2 days pregnant, he found the embryo but no heart beat, he says to come back next week, is this normal? Or should i be worried, this is me and my husbands first pregnancy and we don't want to lose it

6 wks 2 days is very early to be able to see a heartbeat on a scan so it is quite normal for them to wait a week (and it also depends on their scan equipment as to how early they can see one). It's impossible not to worry I know, but seeing the embryo is a good sign and hopefully in a weeks time you'll see what you're looking for.

7+ weeks is around the time you can see the heartbeat.....x hope all is well when you go back next week x

it's hit and miss whether you can see the h/b at this stage - also depends on the skill of the sonographer and the quality of scanning equipment

e.g. i was scanned twice on tuesday (when i was also 6+2) - at hospital they could only see a yolk sac - told me my pregnancy was non-viable () but a few hours later a private clinic easily found the fetal pole and h/b

good luck with the next scan x
