Hi and thank you in advance for any advice, insight.
After having the Mirena coil since 2012 with no issues until now I am concerned (but more than a little hopeful), that I have fallen pregnant! As is common with many my periods became light and then stopped completely after about 6 months of having the coil fitted, however in July this year (3 years after the fitting) I had a relatively "normal" period, but wasn't too concerned as very occasionally admittedly I had had the odd "spotting" episode. However in August I then had a definite "proper" period, heavy and just like in times without the coil. Now I admit (even though we have three beautiful, lovely boys,) I have never quite accepted we will never have another (I did inform hubby that I suspected something wasn't right with the coil!!) on a ahem Saturday night nearly 2 weeks ago we.... The next morning he remembered what I'd said and we began to worry/wonder!
At the time I honestly thought return of the periods had just been a bit of a fluke, but now, I'm 35+ days without a period, (thinking that I'd have had at least some spotting or a light one), but nothing at all. I have done a pregnancy test, but this was only 9/10 days since the possible "unprotected sex"' would that have been too soon? (it was negative). Is it likely (due to the periods returning!) that the coil has fallen out without me otherwise knowing?!! I thought I would have felt it? I am booked in for a smear on Monday (3 days away) during which I will ask the nurse to check for the threads (I have never been able to feel them!).
Thoughts please, I will do another test probably Monday morning (if not before!!) my husband thinks I am just wishful thinking...and so is adamant we need to wait until then as these tests aren't cheep!
