Had my routine midwife appt today and my bp had crept up even more since last time a couple of weeks ago. Apparently it's still in the healthy range (midwife took 3 readings and the highest was 156/98 if that means anything to anyone?) but is much higher than my usual. I've also got protein in my urine so have been referred to daycare.

Just been on the bp monitor for the last hour or so and although not as high as it was at the midwife it's still high. I also had more protein in my sample here than the one at the midwife even though that was just a few hours earlier which the midwife here thought was odd.

Am waiting for my bloods to come back and then the consultant will decide where we go from here. Midwife things she'll recommend an induction though. :(

I'm not so worried about the induction process in itself as much as just being scared of being in on my own outwith visiting until I'm dilated enough to be admitted to the labour ward (with DD I was 20 hours to get to 4cm).

I was fully expecting to go over with this pregnancy like I did with DD so am a bit Shock that baby might be here in the next few days! You'd think with nine months to prepare ourselves it wouldn't be such a surprise when we get to this stage and we get the sudden realisation that there will actually be a baby very soon!!

Any positive thoughts or anyone had similar experiences to let me know what to expect would be really appreciated. Am sitting on my own in a waiting room here trying not to let my mind wander too much.

Sending lots of positive thoughts! I was hospitalised for a few days before my first child's birth. It was boring but the staff were really helpful and tried to keep my spirits up. The actual induction was absolutely fine, nothing like some of the stories on here! Once the baby's here it'll all seem like nothing. Good luck :)

Hi soloulaI have had high bp since about 35 weeks. I am now 40 weeks today.

I am having to see the midwife twice weekly, and am also regularly having to go to the day unit for monitoring because of it. My highest reading last week was 157/97. I had an appointment with a consultant who told me my bp would need to consistently be 150/100 for them to start medication, otherwise I would be dizzy and sick from taking the tablets. Early induction was also mentioned by my midwife, but where consultant said baby is happy and I'm feeling well they see no need to at the moment.

I have previously had protein in my urine, which they did suspect preeclampsia initially but all blood tests have come back clear.

The only annoying thing is the regular trips for blood pressure checks, but to be honest if your baby is happy, and you are having a healthy pregnancy then they should only want to monitor you more, then induce.

Thanks ladies. I'm home with some meds to try and control bp. Got an appointment on Friday for a check up but midwife thinks they'll aim to induce sooner rather than later. Gave me a sweep and apparently I'm already 2-3cm dilated so consultant was quite confident they'd be seeing me before Friday. Have been feeling crampy but nothing I could say for sure that anything's starting so we'll see!
