Hi all,

Just wondered when mums who have had two or more pregnancies, at how many weeks you first felt the baby.

This is my third pregnancy and i'm 14.5 wks. Iknow I felt a few tiny quick jabs low down last week, (deffo not wind) wind with me is slow like a bubble that moves, sorry TMI Plus myself and gp felt dd2 move this early. This week however I have felt nada and am a bit worried.

So any experiences please?

I'm on my 3rd and didn't feel much until 14wks+. But my lifestyle has changed...now at home with kids and on the go constantly, not sitting in an office literally contemplating my navel! You don't notice it as much when you're physically active.

malodorantemelly · 30/11/2006 11:14

ds1 - 14 weeks
dd1 - 12 weeks
dts - 10.5 weeks !!

Piffle · 30/11/2006 11:15

ds- 18 wks
dd- 14 wks
this time 13 wks maybe even earlier as I was obsessing.

megandsoph · 30/11/2006 11:19

LOL @ contemplating your navel... yup thats what i'm doing now.

Just not sure why I haven't felt anything this week but did last week

why don't you get it checked out - just to put your mind at rest. I found my doppler so useful at times like this.

By the way (sorry, cheeky hijack) i'm selling mine £30.

hana · 30/11/2006 11:22

with dd2 and dd3 didn't relaly feel anything until closer to 18 19 weeks
they were average size as was (am!) i

megandsoph · 30/11/2006 11:31

ohhhhh DHW Which one is it?? The doppler I mean.

I did have one with dd1 and never heard a thing apart from my own heart beat all the way through my Pg. Mine was like those angel sound ones and it was poo

But have been looking at the ones with the little monitor and thin doppler like the ones the dr's/MW uses.

I had a 16wk check yesterday and the midwife said that although it is common to feel the baby from about 14/15 weeks, the movements are not frequent or regular and may come and go for days or a week at a time. I think it's once you start feeling very regular and definite movements that any tail off is of concern.

I have an angel sounds doppler and have no problems at all with it! Apart from a mild obsession with it, but I'm starting a twelve step plan...

malodorantemelly · 30/11/2006 11:39

I had one of the expensive dopplers from ebay, and it took a bit of practice, but was a godsend throughout my twin pregnancy.

If you have any doubts can your midwife do a quick listen in?

BrummieOnTheRun · 30/11/2006 11:42

I definitely had days and days at that stage when I didn't feel anything. even mentioned it my midwife. But all the scans and m/w checks have been fine and now (26wks or something) my insides are being kicked to a pulp. Really wouldn't worry, but do pop to your m/w just to de-stress!

Frenchsmallfry · 30/11/2006 11:44

I'm sure it will be fine, I was 18weeks with ds, 15 weeks with dd, this time I swear I felt it at 13 weeks for a couple of days but then felt nothing again until yesterday, am 16 weeks tommorow.

I have a doppler so kept my self re-assured but don't necessasarily (sp?) rush out and buy one, I really only use mine up untill I can feel baby every day. So you have perhaps not got long until you'll feel a bit more confident.

megandsoph · 30/11/2006 11:46

SOH thanyou for that you have just reasured me some what .

I had doppler in 2001 when they were first really came out, in fact had to get it out of a magazine (those advertisments) so maybe they have improved since then. It wasn't the angel sounds one, but something simular (sp?)

malodorantemelly I just realised I don't even have a number for my midwife . I had dd's in southampton but up here its just so different. I have to see my midwife at my gp's office where as down there it was in a birthing centre in hythe.

I tries one of those crap dopplers to start with for ds1, cost £40 and was a complete waste of money. The one I bought on ebay was about £200 and was top of the range, but I sold it for £100 and I have seen them for less now.

I think I saw the birthing centre in Hythe on one of those series on discovery health, it looked lovely. Have you seen your gp, haven't they given you a booking in appt yet with your midwife?

megandsoph · 30/11/2006 14:41

malodorantemelly yes the program was
"babes in the woods" I had shona as my midwife with both dd's. It was fantastic there and they were so reasuring. I just asked at my gp's for the number an they are only available between 9 and 9:30am otherwise you have to leave a message.

Proberbly worried about nothing anyhoo but if nothing by next week will badger them to check bambino out.

With my first I felt dd from around 16 weeks BUT with this pregnancy I didn't feel ds2b until around 20/21 weeks.

megandsoph · 30/11/2006 15:05

Really shhh well you just made me feel lots better thankyou! I think it's just because you read every where that mums usually feel baby earlier in subsequent pg's ( Did with dd2) but was thinking also there was only a 13 mth PG gap between the girls so muscles were like jelly where as its been 5 years since being last PG so maybe muscles have tightened a bit, not that they ever looked like it.

Thanks again shhh

It's also dependent on where the placenta is positioned - if it's at the front (as mine was with ds2) you won't feel movement until later. It also moves as your uterus grows, so this could affect the movements you felt initially.

dhw · 30/11/2006 16:32

the doppler i am selling is the 'Baby Mas Watcher' - £89 new. I'm selling for £30. It really is amazing.

megandsoph · 30/11/2006 20:40

oooh Dhw I will buy! I will buy! how much P&P (assuming you will sell to me)

And bonus am a mn regular ask SG and papillon I promise

OP posts:
dhw · 01/12/2006 09:12

Hi, p&p will probably be about £2.50 I'd guess. Email me snellis2000 at yahoo dot com and we'll swap addresses.

thanks
