We don't know whether we're having a boy or a girl (I'm due in Feb) but my dh is driving me INSANE whenever we talk about boy's names...

bit of background - we're Scottish and do want a Scottish name, also dh desperately wants one connected to either side of our family. We've whittled it down to either:

Stuart,
Struan, or
Guy

Help me decide - which do you like best?

Thanks...

Bet after all this we have a girl....

If I had to choose I would go for Struan. Can't see a little baby as a Stuart or a Guy.

What about Hamish?

hana · 30/11/2006 10:48

like struen best

singersgirl · 30/11/2006 10:49

Guy.

HayleyWayley · 30/11/2006 10:49

i like struan coz its different and i like to be diffrent :O
i also like guy too! :O

i think out i would probably have struan guy...

aDadOnMumsnet · 30/11/2006 10:50

Of the 3: Struan.

PrincessPeaHead · 30/11/2006 10:51

Guy.
Don't like the other two I'm afraid!

Nemoinapeartree · 30/11/2006 10:51

also like Struan

Standrewssaltire · 30/11/2006 10:54

If i had to choose one of the three you have listed, then i would choose Struan.
if however i was to choose my own,
Findlay
Ewan
Ross
would be three of my choices

weewilliewinkie · 30/11/2006 10:54

My friend's got a Hamish so we can't really have that. I do like it though.

I've always liked the name Stuart...Guy is my Granny's maiden name.....Struan is apparently connected to the clan of my mums' side..dh has been doing a LOT of research...

Am coming round to Struan a bit now I think...I just think it's so important to have a name we both love, rather than one that one of us is a bit iffy about.

Stuart would be my fav of those 3.

Struan - I would always think of verb as in "sthg strewn around". sorry.

weepootleflump · 30/11/2006 12:36

Struan fave of the three.
What about Scott (short for Scottish?) I think that's a lovely name

Enid · 30/11/2006 12:37

guy

frazzledazzle · 30/11/2006 12:38

Stuart

DebbsyandBibby · 30/11/2006 12:40

guy

Lwatkins · 09/12/2006 03:04

What about Lachlan (Don't don't if spelling is right!) Have three second cousins, Lachlan, Hamish and Ross. Think their mummy and daddy wanted to keep the scottish trend to! (dads scottish)

If I had to pick it would be Stuart, don't like the other two - sorry. We actually have Roan on our list of names for a boy which is of Scottish origin

asleep · 09/12/2006 10:06

DP is Stuart. so that's my favourite

Miaou · 09/12/2006 10:10

I think it would have to be Struan for me. The name got spoiled for me because I knew a horrible boy called Struan, but I still really like the name

wickedwinterwitch · 09/12/2006 10:13

Guy, it's a cool name

katyjo · 09/12/2006 10:16

I think Straun is lovely, we have a Hamish and he really suits his name.
Its hard picking names, but I think you will find it easier when you see your wee one, we did!
Good luck

We had Greg on our list as well, kind of Scottish.
Love Lachlan too (had a friend her boys were grown up Kurt, Anders, Lachlan and Hamish. Lachlan was nicked named Lockie!)

WWW - do you live in england? I have never met anyone Scottish called Guy. Stewart / Stuart and Struan are great

Pinotmum · 09/12/2006 10:58

I like Guy the best. Dh is Scottish and is called Drew (a variation of Andrew) which I like.

tartanandtired · 09/12/2006 11:01

I like Struan - I wanted to call DS this but DH vetoed it. Funny because our DS is now called something rhyming with Struan... :-)

I also love Lachlan - maybe next time.

Stuart's nice too but difficult to imagine baby Stuart as all Stuart's I know are about 30 if that makes sense.
