Hi, I was wondering if anyone has any advice please! I've had the same chesty cough / cold picked up from dd for over a week now, and it doesn't seem to be getting much better. At night I'm really struggling to sleep as I'm just coughing up phlegm and sniffling around in bed. I've been to 2 different chemists who both said that I shouldn't take anything to help alleviate the symptoms, but I'm desparate for a decent nights sleep - especially seeing as I'll probably soon be kissing goodbye to that prospect for an even longer while!
I'm 35 weeks pregnant, and am thinking along the lines of surely some cough medicine at night for the next few days isn't going to hurt...?
Has anyone taken anything in pregnancy that has helped? ps - tried the old Vicks on the chest etc, and that hasn't made a difference

Hi there, my chemist recommended that i take Glycerin & Blackcurrant linctue, i got it from boots i think, its not brilliant but helps a bit

Two chemists told me I could take simple linctus, which is basically honey lemon and glycerine, or blackcurrant version. MV also said it was fine (I am 13 weeks). Also throat pastilles which do not contain antiseptic - chemist could advise. Its not amazing medicine which clears it up immediately, but it did stop me coughing as much in the middle of the night.

Thanks a lot, I will get down to Boots and have another look at their linctus selection - anything that helps even a little bit is worth a try!
