Just packing my hospital bad and all my 0-3 month sleepsuits look huge!!! I can't see a new baby wearing them and don't want DP so be doing last minute shops when our LO is here.

Had a look on mothercare and seen they do 'up to 10lbs' so was going to get some things in this size but not sure how many sleepsuits to buy? Would 6 be enough? Just until they are big enough for 0-3.

Or am I being completely ridiculous and 0-3 will actually be fine unles baby is early?

The 'up to 10lbs' sleep suits from Mothercare were massive on my 8lb baby. You need newborn size.

I'd get some 'Newborn' size items or 'Up to 1 month'. Preferably newborn, my 8lber was in newborn size for a good few weeks.

Rather depends on how big your baby is. Mine were all in tiny baby size (up to 6lb) initially. Plenty of friends who had babies bigger than 7.5/8lb went straight to 0-3. They're only in the small sizes very briefly.

Planning is so difficult!!

Me and dh are both over 6ft and over 9lbs so not expecting a little one but they may have other ideas!!

Would 6 newborn sleepsuits & vests and 6 in up to 1 month be realistic?

That'd be fine pickle. Initially, as you say you're both tall, I'd probably buy a couple to take to hospital along with some 0-3 just in case your baby goes straight into 0-3 and you don't end up with 12 unused baby grows and whatnot. You can always buy more if 0-3 are definitely too big.

Mother care 0-3 are huge - up to 14lb I think. I stupidly brought them to the hospital when I had DS who was supposed to be massive but wasn't, so sent people out for tiny baby!
Newborn or first size should fit most newborns - the weights on the labels are more useful I think as they vary between stores.

I've got this same dilemma. I'm bringing some newborn vests and sleepsuits, just from asda so that if they don't fit it's not the end of the world, and then a couple of 0-3months to cover all bases!

I had a 8lber and a 9 lber (both quite long babies too) and they wore the newborn size for a month. 6 newborn sleep suits or something like 3 newborn and 3 up to 1 month should see you through till baby can wear the 0-3 stuff. Note all different shops come up different sizes tho - just to add to the confusion!

I had a 6lb 8oz baby but he was very long and therefore the newborn size wouldn't fit him as his little toes were squashed. So that was a waste of money. The 0-1 month/up to 10lb ones fit loose but okay for a few weeks and then he was into the 0-3 month ones. If you and your DP are tall I wouldn't buy too much of the tiny stuff as its likely baby will be long. It wasn't something I had considered in advance as I was only focussed on weight.
