Do bump bands work?

And if they do, any recommendations? Getting overnight achy back and some occasional deep hip pain in the day

Bump bands are normally for only when active well that's what my physio told me your not meant to wear them sitting down or lieing as they push up when you do sit making breathing difficult. So wouldn't help overnight. But yes they do help when used correctly and when out and about. I have a damaged spine and mine work to ease discomfort

Although not sure if the one your talking about is the same as mine as mine was provided by physio

I had a giant tubigrip from physio as was in a lot of pain from spd (now called something else I think...) it really helped but as above poster said only when active. Staying active and building strength in lower back really helped a lot.

Icklekid I also second the giant tubigrip so much more comfortable than the belts and does help although makes me itch

I used this one from JoJo. I only wish I'd bought it a bit earlier in the prgnancy!

My symptoms were different to yours though - DD was very much over to the right-hand side and all her weight was concentrated on one place, so I had what I think was ligament pain at the bottom of my bump on that side. Wearing one of those enabled me to speed up my walking pace to nearly as fast as the average little old lady Grin

Joking aside, wearing one of these did make me much more comfortable, perhaps it's worth a try?

icklekid · 19/09/2015 08:12

I used to wear it over a top/leggings or trousers so no itching issues...

I thought bump bands were for covering the bump up, how does a bump band "support" the bump then?

Runningupthathill82 · 19/09/2015 08:26

Anyone got any experience of wearing bump bands for exercise? Wondering if one would help with the back and hip pain I get while running.

I think with hip issues you're better with one of those two part hip support things. One bit goes solidly around your hips and one bit goes over your bump and it keeps everything square.
The tubigrip things are better for bump ache- the muscles in the abdomen holding up the bump being sore.
