Only 15 weeks so still got a while before I have to decide on beds/car seats etc but it is a real mind field out there. My only requirement is with its safety (I don't mind how it looks or colours) just wondering what other people have bought and why you went for the one you got over others.

Hopefully I will get a couple of suggestions/ideas to have a look at

Hi Sepa,

All being well we hope to go with the Joie Stages car seat as it lasts from newborn to 7 years old - it saves us having to keep buying different seats as LO grows up! - www.joiebaby.com/stages

Thanks Cth, looks like a really good seat and it is a great price especially considering it will last till they are 7. I will be having a look at this one when we go out shopping

We've got the maxi cosi pebble and the isofix 2 way base and will then get the maxi cosi pearl when baby outgrows the first one.

OMG, car seats. Never realised something could be so complicated!

We've opted for the new iSize Maxi-Cosi 2way isofix base (as moody recommended), but we're going with the Maxi-Cosi Cabriofix car seat for LO's first year (not an iSize seat, but still slightly cheaper and lighter than the Pebble Plus!), then buying the Maxi-Cosi Pearl for when she's a toddler.

The iSize bases and carseats have to be demonstrated so you can only buy them instore. AFAIK there're available in selected Mothercare, John Lewis and Toys R Us stores.

We are going for Maxi-Cosi Isize pebble with base. John Lewis were fab at talking us through everything

If you can, try and go to the In Car Safety Centre (incarsafetycentre.co.uk/) - they are excellent and extremely knowledgeable. Best trip we ever made. They will check your car and advise you - not all seats work in every car, something that a lot of people at Mothercare or the likes don't seem to know.
My advice would be to go for an extended rear-facing car seat/system, keeping your child rear-facing as long as possible.

Thank you for all your help. Going to look at all the ones you have mentioned especially as some have come up more than once!
