Could i be in labor?

Went to my OB yesterday and he checked my cervix. I was 4 centimeters dilated and 100% effaced. He then went to swipe my membranes but there was nothing left for him to get. At around 2 this morning i started getting this horrible stabbing pain in my back and pelvis and my stomach got really hard. This lasted til around 5 and stopped. And has happened a few more times. Could this be early labor?

Starting at 2 it would last for about ainute and stop for about 15 and start again. It totally stopped at 5 this morning and then its been happening on and off all day

Yes! You're nearly half way dilated and fully effaced and you're having regular contractions. Good luck :-)

How exiting , good luck!

Now i havnt had anything but sharp pains in my vag for the last few hours. Shouldnt contractions keep coming? I read that the first stage of labor could last up to 20 hours but this is ridiculous. Should i go to the hospital and see what they say?

The ones in my pelvis are regular but the ones in my back will ease off and then come back with a vengence. Like i just got hit with a sledgehammer in my lower back

Yes you're on labour. I'd get myself to the hospital before the morning traffic starts.

Had my daughter yesterday morning! Water finally broke at 11:45 at night and had her delivered by 8:15 so pretty quick labor. She is 6 pounds and 12.4 ounces and 19 3/4 inchs long.
