Colostrum at 26 weeks is it normal?

I will be 27 weeks on Friday, and I've just had a bit of pain in my nipples and boobs so I decided to give them a little squeeze, and a clear liquid with yellowish stuff came out, which I assume is colostrum.

Just wondering whether this is normal and not a sign of labour approaching too soon? Also, how soon after leaking colostrum do you tend to leak milk? Should I start thinking of buying breast pads? They're not 'leaking' at the minute I just sort of squeezed it out (sorry tmi) but just wondering it will start coming out without any coaxing so to speak?

Sorry if this is a really silly question I'm just a clueless mum to be!

I've been leaking from 16 weeks from one nipple and now constantly leak from both nipples an I'm 29 weeks it's is normal some women don't leak at all and others leak loads.

Yep, completely normal. Mine have leaked constantly from about 25 weeks.

You won't leak milk until about three days after your baby is born - it takes a change in hormones for that to happen which won't happen until after birth.

Sorry wasn't finished there lol And I wouldn't squeeze it out if I was u mine leak naturally on there own and it's still colostrum I don't think milk comes until birth I use breast pads now as I soak through tops. Might add aswell mine is only ever clear never yellow so someone else may be able to advise you on that bit

Most women don't actively leak but many find that they can squeeze out colostrum in the second trimester. It's normal and nothing to worry about. If you do leak, then you can buy breast pads but the presence of colostrum now doesn't mean you will. I never did and had colostrum from 26 weeks with both.

You won't make milk until the removal of the placenta which triggers it, along with the baby sucking.

Thank you for your replies!
I've stopped squeezing, I was just really curious as I'd had a weird tingly feeling so at least I know what it was now!

I had no idea milk didn't come out til after the placenta was delivered i thought when people spoke about 'leaking' when pregnant it was milk. I have so much to learn!

I had no leaking at all last time, but this time I've been producing what seems like gallons since about 16 weeks. I find hot baths/showers make it much worse. If I even so much as brush across my nipples they leak and if I hear a baby cry then it's a soggy bra for the rest of the day!

It's advised that you don't squeeze any out before 37 weeks as expressing can trigger contractions and preterm labour, however I will admit I'm now so full and uncomfortable most days I have had to express or I'd be in agony!
