5 weeks - possible miscarriage

Hi,

I'm 5+3 weeks pregnant. I woke up to pink/red discharge when wiping and a small leak of blood this morning.

It's not continuous bleeding, so I'm currently trying to rest this morning (am able to work from home).

Is this a definite miscarriage? No point in going to EPU as too early - a precious miscarriage and they were quite adamant they would only see from 6+ weeks. Previous miscarriage was heavy bleed at 7 weeks so it was quite different to this.

That should read previous miscarriage.

Sorry to hear this.

The only way of knowing, if the EPU won't scan you, is by having your bloods taken and HCG levels measured over a couple of days.

Unfortunately at this early early stage the only thing to do is wait, hard though that is.

PolishRemoverOfNail · 16/09/2015 10:09

I thought that was the case hair and to be honest I had a tough time at the EPU last time (they were lovely but it was just distressing).

I'd prefer to wait at home for now as nothing can be done anyway, it is a waiting game.

I have to admit I don't see me getting much work done today!

Put some DVDs on and eat crap food. I did that and felt much better.

Hand holding until you get an answer either way.

So sorry Polish Sad sending positive vibes. Rest up, snuggle up under a blanket and try not to go mad with worry.

PolishRemoverOfNail · 16/09/2015 11:02

I forgot how awful day time TV can be!

Have a Brew and some snacks. I'm afraid to go to the toilet though. Fingers crossed that it's nothing.

Really hope you're ok. As others have said getting blood taken for hcg levels will tell you. If (and I hope not) it happens then please see your GP and get it on record. I had an extra scan when I got pregnant as I'd had a previous mc and as far as I'm aware they offer you further investigations after 3 (not saying you'll have 3, but it's important that they know).

Hi polish I am also 5+3 and I started with pink spotting, with a hint of red Saturday, it turned pale brown and eased off yesterday morning. It has however come back this afternoon. I had a scare Saturday and have had two lots of blood tests- one sat and one mon and my hcg levels are rising well, I had a early scan yesterday and they could see a small sac but that was all. I just wanted you to know that I was told at the epu that this is very normal for a lot of people, the nurse just smiled- like she'd probably heard what I'd said about 100000 times before. I have also had a miscarriage and absolutely terrified to be honest, Id recommend at least calling your Dr and askingg for blood tests- but make sure it's repeated 48 hours later so they can see how the hcg is rising. Sending you hugs I know how you feel, currently sat with my legs up and willing the baby to stay :( ps totally agree with the epu being distressing, luckily ours has moved since we were last there so it wasn't total de ja vu...

Hi polish, I've also had a mc but am now pregnant again. I also had pain at 5 weeks, EPU scanned me and could see a small sack, they also took bloods over 48hrs, all was fine. I've just been back for a six week scan with them and all currently ok, baby had a heart beat and measured 6+5, I'd ask for blood tests if I was you, fingers crossed for us both x

PolishRemoverOfNail · 17/09/2015 09:38

I'm still getting some bloody discharge and it's now dark brown. From what I remember dark is better than red.

I do have awful cramping this morning though which isn't very reassuring.

I spoke to DH this morning and said if it was still so up and down tomorrow I would go for bloods.

Sorry to hear others have been through this but good luck southy and bells, will keep my fingers crossed for sticky May babies all round! x

I was awake most of last night with period type cramps and more spotting but very dark brown too, you aren't alone, I'm praying we are all ok and this is normal. I know only time wil tell, but I hate this waiting :( it's awful isn't it x

PolishRemoverOfNail · 17/09/2015 15:49

I'm so sorry to hear that southy Sad

I have had a little bleed, which was dark red. I think I'll be going to EPU tomorrow if it continues, but I'm not constantly bleeding, and I don't think I have miscarried.

It tends to be that the more I do/move, the more I tend to lose blood. If I stay still I'm fine. But I can't sit on the sofa for the next 12 weeks!

Just wondered how you are doing polish? Did you go to your epu? Hope you're doing ok

PolishRemoverOfNail · 20/09/2015 14:41

Hi Southy,

No unfortunately I miscarried properly over the weekend, so not necessary.

How are you doing? I hoped all spotting has stopped for you and that you have no more cramping. Do you have any follow up with the epu if the spotting continues?

Hope you and Bells have safe and uneventful pregnancies x
