Hello, I am currently 13w4d with my second pregnancy. My first pregnancy ended at 23 weeks so I have no DC. I am feeling a little lost at all the things that need to be considered Confused.

I have been reading all of the pregnancy apps and this forum and starting to get a little bewildered by it all - things like freezing collustum, strep B tests, perineum massage, rips and tears all the things that can happen before, during and after labour etc and I wondered whether there are any recommended books that explain every eventuality in plain English so that i can make educated choices during my pregnancy and also advice on dealing with a new born it all seems so big and scary. How do you know what you are supposed to do?!

Any advice?

Sorry to hear about your first pregnancy, fingers crossed you have a happy, healthy pregnancy this time Flowers

If you can afford it I'd enroll for either NCT antenatal classes or your local equivalent. All of this information is provided there in plain English and you have the benefit of being able to ask questions and chat about the things you aren't sure of.

Don't leave it too late, they book up pretty fast. I've enrolled onto a local course that was around £150. More expensive than a book but for 16 hours or so classroom time, I think it's a good investment.

Thanks Jilly and CarrotVan

I hadn't thought of classes but I will definitely have a look and see what is available in my area. I have my next Midwife appointment on Monday so will speak to her too.

That book looks very helpful - bargain price too so nothing to lose!
