I'm 37 weeks pg with DS2 and I've just woke up with quite bad pain in the underneath of my right breast. The pain feels a bit like a blocked milk duct but I've looked in a mirror and no redness or anything. Is it even possible to get a blocked duct before you actually start breast feeding??

It's possible but I'd go get it checked to be honest.

Whilst it transpired it was v uncommon, I had full blown mastitis with my firstborn several weeks before he was born! I did have a hard red patch and also felt pretty unwell with it from memory. I hope it doesn't turn out to be that but def worth getting yourself checked over today.

Thanks ladies. Had mastitis with Ds1 but when he was about 3 month old, i dont feel ill like i did with that and no red lump but I'll ring midwife today because it's really sore this morning and only in the one area.
