You can get pregnant on depo! No contraception is 100%.

I've got pregnant twice after taking it - once 7 weeks after it ran out and once 16 months after it ran out.

Well I've been off it for a year + a half now xxxx

Why are you in such a rush to get pregnant at 18? Enjoy your youth!

Skiptonlass · 15/09/2015 07:37

You can get pregnant on it (tiny chance but it is possible, as with any contraception method.)

More usually, your fertility would return once the 'effective time' of the injection was up (3 months or whatever it is.)

If you don't want to become pregnant you need to be using another method/methods of contraception. If it's really important you're not pregnant then double up, e.g. Condoms plus depo.

PotteringAlong · 15/09/2015 07:38

I know, you said in your op. But you asked for experiences and how long after being on it you can become pregnant and I told you mine!

I agree though, you're 18. Worry about it in 10 years.

How long is a piece of string? Some people get pregnant on depo, some as soon as coming off depo and others take years.

It took me 4 years to conceive after coming off depo.

Iamnotloobrushphobic · 15/09/2015 07:42

And that 4 years was after 2 years of seemingly normal cycles.
My previous babies were conceived after coming off the pill, the first baby took one month and the other baby 5 months to conceive. I think different people's bodies react differently to depo.

I got pregnant a year after stopping and my periods still hadn't become normal and regular. That preg ended very very badly lasting 3 months of medication and over night stays in hospital. However my dd was conceived straight after that loss finally finished and it was a easy straight forward pregnancy apart from they couldn't work out my dates. Mc started early December finished start-mid feb.

Chattymummyhere · 15/09/2015 12:02

Not 3 months sorry hit the wrong button on my phone, 2 months.

jellypi3 · 15/09/2015 18:02

Took me 18 months after coming off Depo to conceive. We were TTC religiously for 12 of those.

courtneyathay123 · 16/09/2015 19:55

I was on depo for 5 years before getting off of it. It took almost 2 years for it to get fully out of my system. Within 6 months i got pregnant and i am now 39 weeks. I stressed about the exact same thing and didnt get pregnant. When i quit worrying about it was when i got the suprise at my gynos office that i was pregnant and got to see my little baby girl on the screen for the first time. Hope this helps! Good luck!!

courtneyathay123 · 17/09/2015 00:42
