Firstly I am new to mumsnet so I apologies if I am posting in the wrong thread.

My problem is I had last week off work because I am really suffering with bad back, stomach pains, sickness. I called into work sick today and was told
I need a doctors sick note however it is impossible to get into my doctors surgery they were full booked today and I have to call tomorrow at 8 hoping to get a place. Does anyone have any advice on what I can do? I feel guilty not going into work and don't want to get into trouble

You can self-certify for 7dsys (including weekends) so your work is right. You'll need to get a sick note, most gps will do this over the phone, did you tell them what you needed the appointment for? They may not need to see you.

If you were off work all last week then went in today then you would've self certified.

But as you are now off sick then yes your work is right, you do need a doctors note

I assume this is due to pregnancy? Just ring the docs and explain and I'm sure it will be fine.

Do your work know? As you've been off for a week already you may want to tell them (they can't reveal it to anyone else ) but this will also stop you getting any grief

Yea work know I'm 22weeks now. Just feel incredibly guilty for not going into work. Hopefully I can get into the doctors tomorrow if they aren't full again ??

My doctors just back dated a couple of sick notes for me during this pregnancy. I just told my work I had a doctors appointment and would get one back dated and they were fine
