So, baby due next month, are we set? (Before anyone says relax....I'm v relaxed :-)Smile)

Hospital bag: packed and good to go
Change for hospital: collected
Food for after baby is here: loads batch cooked and frozen
Baby's food: produced loads of colostrum and on midwife advise top shelf of freezer resembles a dairy farm of syringes, in case needed, and boob juice straight from source. Thinking if should also get some ready to feed formula in addition to the freezer full of colostrum, but dunno.....
Antenatal prep: read all about interventions, instruments, drugs, did birth centre abd hospital ward tour, did nhs classes, then did hypnobirthing course and enjoying practising being zen like chilled out as a result
Breastfeeding : read loads from la Leche league, kellymom, mumsnet, got a class from a lactation consultant who's also promised to check for tongue tie etc once he arrives, sorted out local boob brasserie number, ABM, LLL, NCT helpline numbers, got nursing tops, loads a pillows, nursing bras, nighties, off ebay suuuuper cheap (come from EBF family in India so all these things were quite new to ME, as India BFs a lot and you don't get to hear about BF/FF or lactation consultants or nursing wear - baby goes under your saree and that's it! But just in case my current flow dries up or probs happen..)
Baby stuff : all here, all suuuuper cheap second hand except the biggies like crib cot car seat pram
Mum stuff : pads, granny pants, cool packs to sit on, waterwipes
Leave: doing shared parental leave with DH, thank goodness, both leaves sorted
Childcare post our return to work: infirmal agreement with lovely childminder two mins from ours after months of looking and to do a formal agreement next month when wee man arrives

Now just finishing up work, both of us, and enjoying sleeping, meals out, telly etc etc. But just had the thought of asking on here if have covered the basics of prep! I feel a bit too chilled out before the birth I think, but then again, may as well sleep and space out now I guess!

Well you've just made me feel really unprepared!

35 weeks and I'm moving house next week!! I haven't even got a hospital bag yet never mind packed it and all DS1 baby clothes are still in the attic and need to be washed.

It's driving me nuts. I've been wanting to sort everything out for weeks but it would have been pointless due to moving so having to pack everything up again.

I don't want to move Sad

Focusfocus · 14/09/2015 09:26

Moving is an absolute terror of mine having done it alone cross country/continents about 7 times :( I shudder at the thought of suitcases now, so hats off to you for doing it when pregnant! Might lists help? They are really fun to tick things off from, I find.

Also remember a lot on my list is a newbie list and I'll scoff at this with dc2! You all ready know all of this anyway! Good luck either everything!

That list looks great. There's nothing missing that you can't live without, so the rest can come later once you know what works for you and your baby. Have you practiced putting the car seat in the car? Always better to do this before it contains a screaming newborn.

Peanutbutternutter419 · 14/09/2015 18:17

Wow that list looks great!
Well done for being so prepared.
I was lucky enough to EBF my DS but I did have a few of the ready made formula 'just in case'. I think it made DH feel better knowing that if he needed to step in for whatever reason, he could.
Only other thing I would add is Lavender Oil. A few drops in your bath helps to soothe your bits after the trauma! Found it really helped me heal quicker...just annoyed that I didn't get told about it until day 10!!
Good Luck!

I envy you so much OP. I feel so unprepared!! I've got so much back pain after getting off work I haven't been able to get much of anything done to prepare. I keep "suggesting" to my husband that he could do this or that but he is in no hurry clearly. I don't want to pester him when I spend most evenings in a nest of pillows with a heating pad. I am so ready to have this baby but my house is not. Blush

Your list is amazing! Yep, sounds like you're ready

You've probably got it, but creating a lounge new baby station was so good last time - rocker, throw, all essentials in chair pockets (for me and him)... The whole asking for things thing got a bit out of control until I sorted it, and as lovely as dh is it was nice to help myself a bit too.
