zantac at 6 weeks

Hiya
Can I take this as I need something as been on nexium. Have sickness several times a day and acid burning my throat it's horrific.

I was taking Zantac all through my first and second trimester with no issues. Just make sure you stick to the recommend daily dose.

If the acid is really bad I would suggest you booking a GP appointment to ask for some omeprazole. Its available only on prescription but I'm now taking that as I find some of the others stopped working after a while of taking them.

Omeprazole will help with heartburn and acid. Are you being sick because of the acid or is it morning sickness?

Gaviscon didn't work for me, but some people swear by it! Only 6 weeks to go until you can have Zantac Grin

OP re you still taking the Nexium or have you stopped? Nexium (esomeprazole) and omeprazole that a GP would prescribe are effectively the same thing. If you responded well to taking nexium then just get some omeprazole on prescription, it is not know to cause any problems in pregnancy and seeing as it is one of the worlds most prescribed drugs there is a lot of data about it. I don't know if you got you nexium from your DR but you can buy it over the counter or in large supermarkets now.

I have studied omeprazole as a research scientist and also currently take it myself since before becoming pregnant (I switched from something else for safety).
