8 weeks pregnant and bleeding!

Bit worried. 8 weeks pregnant and I've just been to the toilet, wiped and seen blood. Quite red but I don't know if I should be concerned or not! I'm going to wait a bit and see if there is any more - if there is a mis-carriage there's not much I can do is there? Need hand holding and advice. Sad

Just been to the toilet again and no blood this time so we'll see! Fingers crossed.

Hi elfontheedge, this happened to me at 6 weeks and 9 weeks pregnant, I now have a 9 week dd so all was well both times. I had scans at the early pregnancy unit both times and they found no cause. Apparently this is very common at this stage due to cervix stretching or hormonal changes occurring at the time your period would have been due. If you are concerned though please go to hospital, you're right unfortunately there's nothing which can prevent miscarriage but they can put ur mind at rest with either scan or exam to check cervix is closed

Thanks. I'm feeling calmer now. There's been no more blood but I'm going to call the ante-natal clinic in the morning just to put my mind at rest.

I had bleeding at 8 weeks, had a scan and all was fine. I'm 24 weeks now. Fingers crossed that it'll be the same for you

Hope all's well now Elf?
Just in case anyone else arrives at this thread... I also had some spotting around 7/8 wks (bright red, no cramps but was feeling 'weird') and ended up going to the early pregnancy unit at hospital, where I found all was fine. I read more recently that the embryo doesn't actually attach to the uterus until around 8 weeks (when it becomes a foetus) so think that could be why so many of us experience the worrying sight of blood around this time. I think any midwife would always say contact the EPU if you're worried though.

I had this two at around 7 weeks but with cramping and bad lower backachhe. Not a lot of blood just spotting and when I wiped. Got sent to epu twice and all was good. 14 weeks now Smile try not to worry x
