Hi the subject speaks for itself; can anyone recommend a good winter coat? I'm 6 months pregnant now and will need it through to December when I'm due. Ive looked in new look, H&m, next etc and cannot find one I'm looking for a parka style one with a hood. Thanks ladies x

Just want to add, maybe they haven't brought any out in store as it's early. I've tried on coats in the next couple of sizes up (I'm a 12) but they end but being too big around the arm & shoulder areas and just don't look right. Thanks

Watching!

I got a lovely maternity parka in h+m 2 years ago. It's got lots of adjustable bits so can still be used afterwards

Artandco · 06/09/2015 16:55

Personally I suggest trying to wear it just open? December isn't actually the coldest months, it's usually colder jan/feb. Get a large warm wide scarf instead, that will cover over bump part at front and normal coat over arms and back as usual.

You can then wear scarf over baby in sling after also if you will use a sling. And save the money for a regular coat next year or something

Think Asos online had one or two, and H&M online has a Mama padded parka for £40 at the moment.

I went to look on Friday around my area but couldn't find one so i ended up getting 2 of the shawl/ knitted wrap things that are in all the shops now. I'm just thinking of when I'm doing the school run in the wind and rain I'm going to get absolutely drenched lol

I just wear one open and then when I am really really fat wear dhs mountain coat. Perfect.

nannyplumislostinspace · 06/09/2015 17:09

I got a really lovely wool parka with a fur hood from top shop!

ijustwannadance · 06/09/2015 17:21

Dorothy perkins online has a green maternity parker 25% off today.

Orangeisthenewbanana · 06/09/2015 17:26

I saw some on the Vertbaudet website the other day. I got mine in M&S a couple of years ago, but their maternity range has become crap since then.

Have you tried EBay? I'm lucky as will get double the use out of mine with 2 winter babies but as you might only use it once, second hand might be better?

BabyBNumberThree · 06/09/2015 17:37

Thanks for the suggestions guys!Grin

My lovely h&m mama Parka came yesterday - adjustable string things so can be fitted now and have room for growth and it is very very cosy!!

Icklepickle101 · 06/09/2015 17:53

Also I'm a 10/12 and the Medium is perfect!!

mummyneedinganswers · 06/09/2015 18:06

Hi I'm 28 weeks tomorrow and struggling to find a coat. I'm size 20 but boob's have shot up to a GG and bump HD huge and annoy get any size 20 maternity clothes to fit and normal clothes in bigger sizes still don't go over bump properly. I haven't gained any weight so far so all bigger sizes are huge everywhere else and squish bump it's a nightmare

StellaAlpina · 06/09/2015 18:10

Jo Jo Maman has a good selection on its website.

I like this one because you can take out a panel and wear it afterwards.

BadgerFace · 06/09/2015 18:24

I have just bought the Vertbaudet one on sale as it has a good panel for wearing the baby in a sling so will be used for a year or so after birth as well. It seems good quality and nice parka design.

Scarydinosaurs · 06/09/2015 18:25

My topshop one was superb.

kelman13 · 06/09/2015 21:18

I'm currently 27weeks pregnant and managed to get a parka coat from primark £25! I just went up a few sizes! Also when I can no longer do the zip up I've got poppers I can do up to the bump and wear a scarf. They did have one in h&m maternity but it was £50 and I'll literally on get a couple of months use out of!

RockerMummy184 · 06/09/2015 21:26

When I was pregnant with DS over the winter I found that the 'pregnant central heating system' I developed kept me warm enough to not need a coat at all. I bought an oversized cardigan from Primark and utilised my considerable scarf collection, so if you're thinking you like a particular style I second what Artandco said and just wear it open so you can still wear it afterwards.

SueGeneris · 06/09/2015 21:31

As others have said, I wore my coat open then switched to DH's outdoor waterproof coat which I could do up.

BabyBNumberThree · 06/09/2015 21:44

Scary dinosaurs was yours a maternity range or normal coat from top shop?

I think I'm gonna have to look online. I just preferred to try on in the shop first

Scarydinosaurs · 06/09/2015 21:52

Maternity range- I got it from Stratford Westfield and there were a few to pick from, this was 3 years ago now, but it saw me through two pregnancies and I loved it!

BabyBNumberThree · 06/09/2015 22:16

I'll have a look online they may do it still

I had a look but couldn't see it. They normally launch coats soon though, so keep your eyes peeled.

Their PJs are amazing too. So soft and comfy. I still wear them, even though they fall off me now!
