Blood test results

So obviously at my booking in appointment at 8 weeks they took blood - a fair amount of it! I guess they obviously have to test for lots of things and again at my 12 week scan they took blood again I think for nuchal test? I haven't heard anything back from any of these tests... Is that normal? I'm just taking it as no news is good news? Am I wrong in thinking that?

I should add that I'm now 13 and half weeks, and my 12 week scan was a week and half ago so maybe, so is it too soon to expect anything?

No news is definitely good news - if there was bad news you're told within 2 or 3 days. I'm amazed they didn't explain this to you at the time.

When I had DS I got the results of my booking blood tests back at my next appointment (16 weeks I think) as they were Ok. This time round there was an issue and the Dr's surgery called me within 48 hours (ie. as soon as the results got back to them) so safe to assume your bloods are all fine.
The NT results I got about 10-14 days after my bloods/scan. I have heard that the same applies there, so if there is an issue you'll probably hear quicker.
If you're concerned though I'd ring the surgery, our receptionists can give blood results over the phone if there's nothing that needs to be discussed, which sounds like the case with yours.

Oh and congratulations! GrinFlowers

I didn't get some of my results back at all, and some of the others the doctor mentioned when he looked at my thyroid results (so I've had quite a few blood tests!) but only in passing not to actually tell me them...

Here, the results from your booking appointment just go into your file. I asked about them at my 16 wk appointment and they let me look at them but most of the stuff they check (immunity, blood group, iron levels etc) are just for information and stuck on file.

The nuchal results took around 10 days for us and we were sent a letter direct to the house. I do think different areas do things differently though so you might not get the results until your next appointment if they are low risk. High risk and they'd contact you sooner I'm sure.

Thank you all! I was just wondering if I was meant to be expecting a letter or something! They probably did tell me at the time but if im completely honest I am so petrified of blood tests I was probably on the verge of panic attack and not really listening very well! (Bit of a wimp! :) ) thank you for your replies guys xxx
