I'm 21 weeks pregnant and all of a sudden I've had these sharp shooting pains in the lower region. I went to the toilet thinking it was that but still had them. they have subsided for a little but worried if they'll come back. does anyone know what it could be or what I should do?

Hi tiny , it may just be stretching pains. at about 17 weeks I had a lot of sharp shooting pains low down and I was really worried. I spoke to the hospital and went in to be checked out as I'd got myself into such a panic but all was fine it's just everything stretching so its completely normal!

Google fanny daggers- could it be that?

I'm gonna see how it goes. if I'm still getting them tomorrow gonna phone triage and see what they say.

Sounds like round ligament pain, I had it very badly in second trimester.

it's horrible and I have a feeling it'll stop me from doing my work.

I've had similar, both last time and this time around too (I'm 26wks). Sounds a lot like round ligament pain as a previous poster has said. I think it would be more concerning if the pains remained constant or got worse.

Mine tend to be short sharp shocks that instantly go or linger for a short while and then go away.

It was a lot later in pregnancy before the dreaded 'fanny daggers'!Shock They were completely different - like DC was trying to poke his way out with a knitting needle! He was born with quite long nails (and hands first too!!) and I wonder if there is a correlation with this and fanny daggers??
