Maternity jeans

Can anyone recommend any?

I didn't need them last time because of the time of year I was pg.

Pre pregnancy I wore Per Una Roma jeans in a 12. Not the height of fashion I know but they suit my shape. I also liked Peacocks 24/7 skinnies and wore a 14 in those. Both in the regular leg were perfect.

I have been given a pair of Red Herring over bump crops in a 14 and I don't like the fit. The over bump bit is massive it goes over my boobs! I've got ages to go buy I can't see me filling it and if I go down a size the legs will be too tight.

I bought all my maternity stuff from asos before but don't like any of their jeans they all seem distressed or with silly zips or massive bootleg.

Given my size and shape what would you recommend? I'm not in the UK so has to be online really although do have a few UK brands locally. And also should I consider under bump?

They are probably the only item I need buy this will be last pg so probably would spend what I'd normally spend on jeans.

Also, did you wear yours after too? This is another reason I might go over bump because I think I will need another section and did you need more than one size?

I got mine from mother care at about 16 weeks, I'm 33 now and still in them! Lovely jeans, I've got over the bump ones

Nousername2015 · 31/08/2015 09:33

I'm in h&m ones. I have a pair of mothercare ones too but the denim is a bit too heavy for my liking and the bump band is very thick and I end up boiling (that's just me by the way). The h&m ones are a more jegging style material but still thick enough. I bought my regular size and they fit really well, when first wore them at 16 weeks the bump band was a bit loose but I'm growing into them now! They aren't for everyone but to me they are great.

Lemonfizzypop · 31/08/2015 09:43

I've got h&m and asos skinny ones, at 32 weeks the asos ones are much comfier but the denim on the h&m ones is nicer.

gemsparkle84 · 31/08/2015 09:46

I've gone for Topshop. I'm 13 and a half weeks so not big enough for full on maternity but I'm too big for my normal jeans. They're nice they've got a small stretchy band around the front so they'll be great for after baby as well!

ThatsNotEvenAWord · 31/08/2015 09:47

I got my under bump ones from New Look, they were only about £20 and I was happy with them

Wishful80smontage · 31/08/2015 09:48

I'm living in various next over the bump jeggings which are lovely and comfy

MyNameIsSuz · 31/08/2015 10:02

I've gone for supersoft skinnies from New Look, they haven't arrived yet but I had the non-maternity ones and found them really comfy.

TitusAndromedon · 31/08/2015 10:08

Im currently wearing these, from Gap. www.gap.co.uk/browse/product.do?cid=1030215&vid=1&pid=000696176000

I had previously tried Asos, New Look and Next, but I couldn't get any of them to stay up properly. The band on the Gap jeans is made of a sort of Lycra-like material, so it's a bit firmer and more secure. The ones I've kept are very soft and stretchy, like jeggings, so ridiculously comfortable. However, they have other pairs that feel more like regular jeans. I just kept these because I liked the colour.

Starspread · 31/08/2015 10:11

I've got some H&M (quite stretchy) skinny jeans which I bought in my normal size at about 13/14 weeks, I think, plus a pair of boot cut Mamalicious jeans from a friend; I live in both and am now well into the third trimester. Both are over-the-bump and still comfy, though I will admit the skinny jeans are starting to get a bit tight round the thighs!

mrsnec · 31/08/2015 11:30

Thanks everyone. No H+M here and they don't deliver here either which is annoying but I have Topshop,Mothercare and Next nearby and there is Gap too so there should be some I can try.

That's what I was thinking about the mothercare ones being hot. The Topshop suggestion is great I like the sound of the thinner band. I haven't shopped in there for years and I know people rate their jeans. Although I don't think they stock a size 14 in anything over here!

If that fails will look at asos again and new look as they both deliver here. That was my thought about the skinny ones being tight on the thighs which is why I was thinking of straight leg ones but it seems to be just skinny or bootleg everywhere I looked online.

Next clearance online has a few maternity jeans at the moment. They are very reasonable. I've gone for the under bump ones and I'm finding them comfy so far, but I'm only 13 weeks and wearing them because my other jeans are too tight now

TitusAndromedon · 31/08/2015 12:54

I think Gap is only online, but they have a good selection of a range of styles. I spent about 10 weeks without maternity jeans because I couldn't find any that fit properly, and I thought that I would just have to cope without for the whole pregnancy. Getting these has actually made me feel much more like myself because I can wear outfits that are much more my style.

quesadillas6 · 31/08/2015 13:00

I love New Look ones. Second pregnancy and they still look good as new.

Runningupthathill82 · 31/08/2015 13:03

I really like my Asos skinny ones in this pregnancy. Can be worn over or under bump.
Last time I wore Topshop Leigh ones, which fit great, but tbh the quality wasn't up to much and they were developing holes by the time DS was born.
I don't rate Mothercare clothes at all, aside from the Blooming marvellous leggings they sell there.
I'm also just about managing in ordinary Fat Face jeans my mum lent me. The vanity sizing is so bonkers there that the non-maternity jeans sit nicely low on my hips and don't come anywhere near the bump at all. They're massive everywhere else, but rolled up and with sandals they work ok!

mrsnec · 31/08/2015 13:03

Haven't shopped in gap or next in years are they true to size just looked at the gap size guide and it was a bit confusing. Being an M and S 12 is that a next 14 and gap 10?

Also get what you mean about the colour of the gap ones and im looking forward to wearing them too although I don't mind the summer here too much because I just wear normal size maxi dresses but in a month or so I won't be able to do that and I'll be 20 weeks then.

Runningupthathill82 · 31/08/2015 13:08

Mrsnec - sizing in both gap and Next is all over the place, but I'd guess you'd be a Next 12 and a Gap 10 if you're a 12 in M&S.

Vanity sizing in gap has reached such giddy heights that my last trousers from there were a UK 6. I'm a Topshop 10!

ammature · 31/08/2015 17:09

I have the topshop maternity jeans which are very soft and stretchy but I find the fall down a lot and really need pulling up constantly.

Notapinkgirl · 31/08/2015 17:46

Hi I have gap ones in a size 12 I'm usually a 12, they also do short leg lengths which are great, I'm 5 foot 4. I waited until they had one of their 30% off offers

SarinaJ · 31/08/2015 17:56

I've got New Look over the bump (which I've nearly bust out of now) and under the bump which is so comfy. Both are skinny fit and really comfy. I also bought some boyfriend fit jeans from Peacocks which are low under my bump.

Iamnotloobrushphobic · 01/09/2015 09:05

I've got 3pairs of h&m skinnies but one pair no longer fits over my bump (34weeks). The reason the ones you have been given Sen massive might be because the stretchy band has already been stretched out. New over the bump jeans will have a more snug fitting band which will expand a bit as you grow.
I'm just hoping my remaining 2 pairs expand enough to get me through the next 6 weeks.

babybat · 01/09/2015 09:16

I got these Gap ones the last time they did a 30% discount offer www.gap.co.uk/browse/product.do?cid=1036007&vid=1&pid=000696173000 - they're under the bump and fit just like regular stretch skinny jeans. I'm 18 weeks and find they're really comfortable. I'm usually a 14 and they're true to size.

mrsnec · 01/09/2015 09:18

Thanks again. I think a lot of it is vanity sizing. The Red Herring ones I've been given were brand new still had the tags on.usually I'm a 14 in anything from Debenhams but they're huge. Have had a lot of sickeness though and am losing weight so that might explain it. I definitely think I need to try them on. I don't want them tight but I don't want to be pulling them up all the time either.

The only ones I've ever really liked over 3 pregnancies are Motherhood Maternity ones from the USA. Not sure if you can order online from wherever you are but the over bump panel is so thin and stretchy while being supportive they're amazing!

cloudjumper · 01/09/2015 12:53

I recently got maternity jeans from Vertbaudet, and I love them - they are so comfortable. I prefer bootleg, but they also do a lot of skinny fit jeans.
You could also try Jojomamanbebe, but I am not so impressed with the jeans I got from there...
Next and New Look also have quite a decent range of mat clothes.

cth1982 · 01/09/2015 12:58

Hi There,

I have bought a couple of pairs of M&S over the bump jeans and they have been total lifesavers - really comfy and grow with you which is great. M&S currently has 20% off everything at the moment as well!
