Anyone been pregnant with hernia mesh?

I didn't really know where to post this but Ive searched the internet and haven't really found much so reckoned it was worth a try posting here

I had an inscisional hernia (lower left abdomen) repaired with mesh about 2 years ago.

I really want another baby but I'm scared about what may happen to the hernia repair in pregnancy. The repair is holding at the moment.

My surgeon never mentioned pregnancy and I (stupidly) forgot to ask.

I'm planning to ask my GP for a referral to speak to someone about it, but real life experiences would also be useful

Yes, but mine is an obturator hernia repair (low down in the the pelvis) and my surgeon confirmed before the op that it wouldn't affect/be affected by pregnancy. I think your best bet is to check with your surgeon/a surgeon if you can.

I had a umbilical hernia mesh during my last pregnancy. It felt weird and pointy and all the midwives who palpated me thought it was an elbow. It wasn't a problem at all though. Hoping it's the same now I'm pregnant again.
