this is silly, but at 35 weeks with my first, I am very happy with my round bump...until I start 'bumping' it on everything! I also managed somehow to catch my new 'outie' belly button with a nail (they're short, not salon talons!) and cut myself :( don't know why but that really upset me, as well as stinging like crazy. so, why I am so clumsy and has anyone else suffered similar? any tips aside form slowing the hey down a bit, which I'm trying to do ;p

Oh the start of the delightful 'Baby brain'!

Rest assured that the clumsiness will only get worse until your little one is about 3...next you'll start misplacing things and forgetting names. Grin

Don't be upset with yourself. I am pregnant with twins and my bump is massively bigger than when I had my singleton, meaning I've been bumping it on all sorts from quite early on. Most recently I managed to open the stair gate and hit my bump with the catch. It left a HUGE bruise. I've also managed to spill EVERY meal I've eaten for about 3 months on it.

I used to quite regularly make 300 copies of things at work when my belly accidentally hit the photocopier buttons while I was leaning over to do something!

Like you said 'taking it slowly' is a good starting point, but from a more practical point of view, I find that if I keep a hand on my bump I am more aware of how far it sticks out and I can manoeuvre through doors/gates without knocking it.

Also, try to enjoy your lovely strong long nails, because once your baby arrives and your hormones go back to normal they'll be breaking off at the slightest touch.

I believe it's the relaxin that make your more clumsy as it relaxes your ligaments. I ironed my bump in my first pregnancy. But then I should have had more than knickers and bra on!

Just take it easy. And don't get upset if you have a small knock. It's hard to judge your bump sometimes. I keep getting stuck between cars in car parks!

With DC1 I kept burning my bump on the kettle when I reached into the cupboard above to get the coffee.

thanks, made me laugh and made me feel better :) I have also been spilling everything - maybe it's nature's way of getting you used to being covered in...stuff...before the baby arrives!
