Sleeping bags

Hi, please help! My baby is 7 weeks old and used to love being swaddled, now she doesn't! She wants to suck her hands for comfort. All night she is thrashing about and her waking up twice a night has regressed to almost waking a couple of times an hour. I wanted to try a sleeping bag as I thought her arms will be free so if she wants to suck her hands she can, however I have seen the health visitor three times now and asked each time if it is safe to use a sleeping bag and she says no each time,baby is too small. She now weighs 11lbs 8. I know the labels on the bag say from newborn or a certain weight so theoretically she should be able to go in them but I don't want to put her in any danger. What does everyone else do? Thank you in advance from a very sleep deprived first time mummy!xx

With my last baby we used them immediately as he was the right weight, I think the worry is that a smaller baby could pull it over their face? Maybe use one for a nap where you can observe and see if you think it's safe. I'd have gone for it by now, but appreciate you've been given advice.

The bags say 8lb8 upwards and mine went in a Grobag straight away as he was 11lb2 at birth. Is there another reason the HV was wary - prem baby? Health issues?

I used a sleeping bag for both of miners about 6weeks. They liked their arms over their heads. As someone said, the Gro-Bags are from 4kgs or something. They have poppers on the arm holes too so you can make it nice and snug. So long as you're at the minimum weight, I'd think it was fine.Give it a whirl and see

Both of mine were in sleeping bags from about 6 weeks ish they slept do much better !
