I had twins 2 weeks ago, and just found I have lost 1 and a half stone in the past week, it seems alot, is that normal? I'm now a stone under what I was before I got pregnant.

That seems very quick. I had a friend who bf and lost loads of weight (and 3 dc later has still kept it off Hmm) but it each time it was like at the 6 month mark the weight was all gone.

I'm huge with dd2 and can only wish the weight goes. I put on more weight bf dd1!

Mention it to your GP or mw next time you see them but you're probably fine. I've got a massive baby bump but I think the rest of me has shrunk (the only upside of constant sickness...) - it'll be interesting to see what size I am after the birth!

You're probably losing the accumulated fluid in tissues, your blood volume is going back towards normal , your womb is reducing in size ... and you had twins so there will be more womb to reduce! Fluid alone is heavy. 1l of water weighs a kilo.

Congratulations:)

I lost loads of weight after birth, I think a mixture of most of it being baby and stuff (fluids etc) and sheer exhaustion - I was totally worn out!
How do you feel otherwise? Do you feel well? It might be worth mentioning it but if you feel OK otherwise it might just be the way you do pregnancy

Yes I feel great, so hopefully its all ok! Seeing mw on Sat so will see what she says.

I lost 2 stone within a week of having 8lb DD - 9 months on and I'm half a stone less than I was pre baby when I was on the lower end of a healthy BMI range to start with - my metabolism has stayed high despite stopping breast feeding and I'm currently undergoing tests to find out why I'm still losing weight/have no appetite; definitely worth speaking to your GP.

I lost weight fast after my twins. Your blood volume nearly doubles, 2 placentas, double fluid, two babies!!! It all adds up. I was a stone lighter at 4-5 months post babies but wasn't partic heavy beforehand.
I did have some epic night sweats. Bleurghh

I normally weigh about 7 stone( healthybmi) was nearly 11 the day before I had my son, looked enormous, 4 weeks later weighed 7 stone again.Breast feeding, certainly no dieting, felt great very keen to start doing sport again ( was careful to protect stomach muscles) but did loads of walking. Sometimes things that are hard for others can be a breeze just down to luck. I was great at being pregnant, breastfeeding and recovering from birth. Crap at giving birth, every intervention under the sun.

10 day old ds and have lost 14kgs, admittedly I have a lot to go but with all 4 of my dc I have been back at my pre pregnancy weight by the time they were 6 months old. I have had about 5 stone to lose each time, my sister is the same and when she mentioned the rapid weight loss at her 6 week check the dr just said "lucky you"!

ShanghaiDiva · 28/08/2015 06:34

I put on 28 lbs with my daughter and had lost 21 before I left hospital and I think a lot of that was fluid.

Congratulations on your twins!
