Sad 27wks and had awful stabbing like pain in my upper left rib area for a couple of hours, hurts to move, presume it's just trapped wind but it's soooo bad! I've had a deflatine, is there anything else anyone recommends?

I second anything minty. Or even rennies/gaviscon.

I find walking around helps too

Ifiwasabadger · 26/08/2015 20:44

Rennies were my friend in pregnancy!

Aw thanks for the replies, chomping some gaviscon and have added peppermint tea to my big shop delivery, it flippin really hurts!! Getting all dramatic and thinking about all the deep breaths I've taken that haven't felt like I was being stabbed and wishing I hadn't taken them all for granted! Grin

Wind-eeze really help me (not sure if suitable when pregnant)

Fluffy24 · 26/08/2015 21:04

Gaviscon. And more gaviscon. As far as I'm concerned Gaviscon is a food group during pregnancy.

Peppermint oil. Much, much more effective than peppermint tea.

Urgh, I had awful trapped wind in pregnancy. The only way I could relieve it was by lying in child's pose (on knees, head between legs in floor) then lift your bum in the air so it's higher than your head. Pretty soon all the trapped air will travel to your butt and you'll be able to fart.
Seriously, try it! I spent a lot of time in this position when pregnant. Absolutely not attractive but whatever!

Firsttimer101 · 26/08/2015 21:20

O..M actual G, strokethefurrywall thank you! Tried that position, was v painful for a minute then both ends simultaneously expelled the evil air, feel SOOO much better, massive virtual hug! Grin

Yay!!!! I'm so pleased it worked!

Go forth and spread the word fair pregnant lady Grin

linden tea works well to settle wind, nausea. It's the 'parachute' that carries the seeds that i use - but remove the seeds.

Topsy34 · 26/08/2015 22:31

Just seen strokethefurrywall has said childs pose and seems to have worked....love child pose!

scarednoob · 26/08/2015 23:33

Yep - that or all fours, sticking your bum in the air and making slow figures of 8 with your hips. You feel like a total dick.

But it works!

MummyPiggy87 · 26/08/2015 23:37

OP I'm also 27 weeks and have the exact same problem everyday, and it makes my belly hard and uncomfortable! Will be trying the tech that pp said lol thanks

Also works on newborn babies with wind fyi - Ds2 had terrible gas because he was a greedy bugger so I would just put him to sleep in a ball on his front with his knees under him. The pressure would help the tummy and as he would squirm, I would hear these tiny baby farts.

And never has a baby's fart heralded such relief for me.
